We had the good fortune of connecting with Susan Eichhorn-Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I guess it would be, or at least I hope it would be, my passion and commitment to the individual every step of the way in their journey with me. I work hard to create safety and trust and strive tirelessly to see each individual fully and mirror what they need, in order for each person to continue to grow and reveal their authenticity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work combines the artistic and business side, with many facets! I started out as a performer, and although I still perform occasionally, my work and passion is in the studio with singers and actors and speakers and empowering them! My journey has been my own, and I bring that lifelong knowledge and learning with me on every level. One of the biggest challenges was after a near-fatal car accident that gave me more than a pause as I learned to breathe my parts back together (with the help of wonderful surgeons, doctors, nurses, PT & more). It got me into further touch with how we need all parts – physical, mental, spiritual – to do the work we do – on any stage. My brand is “authentic voice” and “ALL THINGS VOICE”. When we speak, sing, BE from an authentic space we are able to reveal integrity, truth and tell stories that only we can tell, with the voice we have embodied.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would try to touch on many aspects of the arts in NYC: a Broadway show, an opera, a visit to Birdland! Get to the MOMA and the Metropolitan Museum. Dinner at The West Bank Cafe is always a must. If the weather is good, a walk through Fort Tryon Park in the Heights. A day in Chinatown. A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. So much to do, so little time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every client that has walked through the doors – literally and virtually – of my studio gets the shoutout! I learn from each of them and they teach me more than they know! Teaching and coaching and instructing is collaborative, and so I learn more each day.
