We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunny Marcell and Simon Correa Sunny Disposition and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sunny Marcell and Simon Correa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Simon: “One thing for certain, our approaches include firm determination, setting reasonable goals and learning from failure. Time management, because as musicians, you must hone your craft”

Sunny:”Success is different to us all, but I’m certain that we can all agree that finding a common place is important, you know… make sure we’re all on the same page and if we aren’t, then we figure out a way to get there, and without pushing anyone out or making anyone feel like their voice isn’t being considered. One thing we are big on is kind words towards each other. And of course…Appreciation. Appreciation for your for your partners makes working together more enjoyable. as much as the appreciation of the people who are coming to see us and watch what we do”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We define ourselves as a power trio. Although we have limited instrumentation, our sound is completely full. We have accomplished our goals with strong networking throughout this city with fellow musicians, booking agents, and mutual acquaintances. It has not been easy by any means but we continue to persevere because of our firm determination in mastering our craft. We have learned that failure can be a better teacher than victory. Our full effort as a musical group is the reason we are going strong with no signs of quitting. We wish to share our sound and message with anyone who has a minute to listen. We want everyone to know that our music and brand is a simple expression of our vitality for life based on life experiences that continue to teach us about each other.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our fair city of Dallas has a fun neighborhood called Deep Ellum. It has a mixture of street art, great novelty shops, eclectic range of restaurants and bars, and live music most days of the week. We would also strongly recommend a visit to the arcades throughout town; specifically Free Play arcade and Cidercade. These arcades create a wonderful mix of gaming and night life for any adult who wishes to relive their childhood for a few hours.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a musical group perfecting our brand, we would not be where we are without recognizing a very special element that brought us together in the first place: Eastbound and Down. Eastbound And Down was a bar in east dallas that featured one of our band members as a weekly karaoke host. One particular karaoke night at this bar, we struck up a conversation about musical influences and realized we wanted to start a musical venture together. Eastbound And Down deserves huge credit and recognition to our success thus far because if that establishment had never existed, neither would we have.
