We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue yaghi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sue, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There are a couple of factors, but the most important one was the choice it allowed me to create beautiful interiors on my own, and the other was the liberty of owning my own time. I really don’t think of my job as a business. I consider it more of a hobby that I love and enjoy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

We are an Interior Design and home furnishings boutique that offer comprehensive residential and commercial design services. We also provide access to products that complement the design consulting services including furniture, both new and antique

With over 20 years of international design experience, I am particularly excited to bring a unique background to the Dallas/Fort Worth area—combining my years of interior design experience Sue’s Chic Interiors with my KonMari™ certification. Like a kaleidoscope, this unique combination allows me to view each project from multiple vantage points. Watching clients react to their newly designed homes and the happiness in their eyes after we complete our work is what truly sparks joy for me.
Designing and opening my shop is my biggest accomplishment that I managed sole handed. Creating a space that holds my elegant selection was important to me and so I put my all in it and made sure that every corner and every inch, represented my style. The space is not only beautiful, but functional as well. It is a showroom, design studio and a place for displaying artwork from the finest artists in town.

My husband had a demanding job that required him to relocate every couple of years, so we ended up moving about 14 times. (some locally and some internationally). This always created a challenge for my career because I had to start over in every place we moved to. On the other hand, moving to a different place or country allowed me to gain different experiences and gave me the opportunity to work with so many different people and styles.
The most important lesson I have learned along the way, is to never be fearful. You will sometimes succeed but you will also sometimes fail. Failing will only teach you to get better. We learn best from our own mistakes, as long as we acknowledge that we made those mistakes and learn from them, then we can succeed.

Every piece of furniture or item in my shop is carefully selected by me and represents my style of clean and simple lines. Elegance yet functional is what we strive to achieve. My main mission is to create the best experience that combines high quality and efficacy for our customers. In addition, we want to define the most sophisticated and superior standard of quality in every space we design.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Dallas/Forth Worth is an amazing city with choices that appeal to so many unique tastes and styles.
I would definitely take them on an Architecture tour ….visiting places like the Perot Museum, Reunion Tower, Art Deco architecture at Fair Park, Nasher Sculpture Center, etc.
Then I would take them to the Bishop Art District which is a trendy neighborhood that is filled with galleries, shops, antique stores and restaurants.
Lastly, I would take them to the beautiful and historic downtown Mckinney that is one of the oldest thriving historic downtowns in Texas. It was first built in 1846, but has been updated to become the McKinney Performing Arts Center. There are many shops, galleries, restaurants that are mostly small family owned places, just like Sue’s Chic Interiors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that I have encountered in my life while traveling or living overseas that have shaped who I am today, but my family has always given me guidance, encouragement and honest feedback that allowed me to better myself. I am very fortunate to have them in my life even when they sometimes are my harshest critics. That only pushes me to excel and show them my potential.
