We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In my late 20’s, I really developed my affinity for travel after realizing there is so much out there to see and do. I always had an itch for adventure and to do something more than an office job. When I was traveling in England with one of my best friends, who founded The Shameless Tourist, we had discussed the possibility of me joining her in the travel business. At the time, I was still working a full-time office job…Though I had been with the company for a while, I knew it was time to make a change. With the support of my family and friends, I took the jump and made a career change to one where I am able to combine a desire and passion of mine into a new adventure. I get so much joy from my clients and hearing their feedback from a trip. I love making sure they feel so special, even if it’s a weekend getaway.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We, at The Shameless Tourist, take pride in our work and providing the highest quality in customer care. Attention to details is up the upmost importance in our job. We do our very best to make sure each and every trip is very special and that we know what our client wants out of the trip. We are constantly learning and making sure we are up on the trends for travel to make sure we know what’s best for our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Fort Worth, TX and if you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you Joe T. Garcia’s. I’ve been known to eat there twice in one day and not even bat an eye. It has the best patio and margaritas! There are a few other favorite places I love to share with friends when they come to town. Woodshed is conveniently located on the Trinity Trail and has the best brisket tacos, as well as, great live music. If you want enjoy our beautiful downtown, you have to check out Reata to see the views from there rooftop and experience true Texas cuisine. Additionally, the Stockyards are a staple in this town. It’s a great spot to take the family for a fun Saturday afternoon stroll or to see a traditional cattle drive.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, speaking of shoutouts, I feel that I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my loving parents. They taught me to work hard and to give 110% into anything I do. The biggest thing they taught me, though, was to always put God first and everything will work out in His timing. I truly believe that without my relationship with Him, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Next, would be my AMAZING husband, Jarrett. He believes in me and supports me in this passion of mine that I’m so lucky to get to call my job. I couldn’t do this without him. My sweet friends and clients! The past 6 months, despite the pandemic, have been amazing and that’s all because of them. I appreciate all the referrals and positive feedback more than they will ever know. Last but definitely not least, this lady deserves a HUGE shoutout, Kaleigh Kirkpatrick. I wouldn’t be where I’m in the travel industry without her guidance. She has a wealth of knowledge for travel and I feel so fortunate to be learning from one of the best. I truly feel very blessed to be a part of The Shameless Tourist team and so excited to see this where this group goes next.
