We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie M. Casey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie M., why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with movies – especially offbeat movies which challenged the norm around me. This was in the early 90s so the internet was a tiny baby and movies were the main way to immerse oneself in far away or different cultures, places, and spaces. The soundtracks of these films filled my walkman headphones and later my CD mixes. I understood that movies had more emotional impact on people and culture than even politics or education. And I wanted to be a part of that entertainment world contributing to exposure and change for progress and growth.
What should our readers know about your business?
My boutique service company, Lovage Inc., has evolved over its nearly 5 years in business. What it has always been about is, “Let’s Make It Better.” The business
offerings have evolved from me 1-on-1 consulting, to general marketing, to Custom Website Builds. From the inception of my company, every customer has almost always needed a new website so this was a natural evolvement. A great website tells the story of the business and engages its visitors effectively – takes them on a journey. Just like a great movie or song. Our exclusive product is a 30-Day Custom Website. We honed our production process and broke it down into explicit, transparent steps to make the process easy on our customers – very smooth with a top-line end product. It took years of development and refinement to get to this slick process and I have brought organizational and production systems from my past (movies, music, events, business management) to the way my team creates the websites. Essentially, we removed or minimized the mucky parts of producing a new website – the stuff
everyone who needs a new website dreads. So, instead, the experience is pleasant for all involved with the excitement of a beautiful, professional, custom marketing tool (i.e. a new website) delivered, as swift as can be. Business is a never-ending journey always evolving and it is exciting to be in a place with Lovage where the offering is simple, clear, and singular. It makes it easier for our
customers to find us and hire us as well as making our product better.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite restaurant in Dallas, hands down, is Petra & The Beast. There is nothing else like it, here. I am also a fan of reflexology – both foot and full body so I would take a visiting guest to Yaya Foot Spa or Sole Therapy. A favorite quarantine activity has been drive in movies at Texas Theater in Oak Cliff and I hope they keep those up once we are allowed to mingle freely, again!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As far as starting and running a business, my journey began with Robert T. Kiyosaki’s, “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” This is a starter business book which just lays out that you can work for other people and help THEIR business grow or start your own business with unlimited potential for growth. The latter was a lightbulb moment for me and a challenge I wanted to dive into.
