We had the good fortune of connecting with sharon DIOR and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi sharon, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The biggest one would have to be challenging myself to doing something that’s uncomfortable and out of my comfort zone to build not only security within myself in the sense that I’m capable of more than what I allow myself, but also to give myself the opportunity to mess up/make mistakes or fall short and still continue to try something new/uncomfortable. Almost as if I was rewriting the narratives I have built around that concept in making it a safe place within myself to continue to challenge/humble myself. This also helps enable growth mindset thinking to help further develop my experience here as a human. 😀
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
At heart I’m a well rounded creative. I love to pick up different hobbies and find new ways to challenge myself creatively as a form of self development and discovery. What feels most like home though, is my fashion and being able to curate pieces/outfits to bring out confidence and self empowerment to myself and others. Although I’m just starting out, I feel that it’s always been a hobby I can come home to with not expectations to meet. All this to say that I feel that what sets me apart is the way I collaborate fashion with whatever it is I’m doing. Whether it be a photoshoot, dance performance or even just going to the grocery story you will always see me doin the most when it comes to my fashion haha. I’m most proud of all the introspective work I’ve done to get myself to where I’m at today. To have broken down walls and barriers to be able to be truly vulnerable with others and be open to give and receive the abundance of love that exists around us. I’m proud of the work I’m doin to establish an authentic sense of self and couldn’t be more grateful for those connections I’ve made that have paved the way for that. I would say it was what I made of it.
I am excited for some new projects I have in the works that will be showcasing my curiosity in creative directing. I really really love seeing a vision come to life, it is so fulfilling!
I don’t think it was hard nor super easy either but some days were harder than others. All of it is essential though, the highs and lows. Looking back at it, Im most grateful for the hardest of days
. I’d say what helped me overcome those obstacles was really just reminding myself that everything happens for a reason and to trust the timing of things. The universe has never failed me
I guess what I want people to know is that it takes a village to create the person you are today and those who challenge you, enable breakthroughs, are mirroring you, providing for you, nurturing you… all of those connections are essential to the journey and that I’m eternally grateful to those who have played a part in my journey whether it be good or bad. Of course I had a lot to contribute to It as well but human connection is everything! All this to say, continue to allow yourself to be open and vulnerable with others even when it disappoints you , continue to open up despite all of that. Doing this Will open up so many doors in all aspects of your life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My only suggestion really is Casa de Luz!!!!! It’s A great vegan spot and also is a really nice place to go to, to get away from everything and experience all the peaceful vibes. They have like a jungle / nature walkway to the restaurant and is so peaceful to eat inside and outside on a nice sunny day 😀
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gabe Morgan, he’s a great example of someone who continues to innovate themselves and their craft and also wanting to share and create that safe space for others to explore their gifts and talents. He’s a really great human being overall!
