We had the good fortune of connecting with Shalonda Waggoner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shalonda, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with this idea for my business while in women’s counseling for abuse. As I was listening to the many differences in what we experienced, there was one common theme that we all shared and it was that none of us could take any home furnishings from the home. It’s not like a victim would have time to take anything at that time, especially if was meaning life or death at that very moment. Starting over is extremely hard.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am customer service professional at heart. I have had positions where catering to people’s needs have been the forefront of my success. I am most proud of making sure that the customer was a repeat customer. Attaining relationships with people and knowing their wants and needs has allowed my to garner customer satisfaction at every level. I got where I am today by being consistent. Consistency is key in customer retention. It was not easy, because you have to understand people from all different backgrounds and cultures. Is means asking a lot of questions and being respectful and professional at all times.
I have learned that one person can change the world. But that one person has to have destiny helpers to make it complete. If people believe in you and your vision, there is no stopping you.
I want the world to know that research has shown that environment plays a significant role in mental health, with studies suggesting that comfortable, aesthetically pleasing spaces can have therapeutic effects. LatterHouse Decor’s designers take this knowledge to heart by adopting a holistic approach to healing. They consider each survivor’s unique needs, preferences, and personal history when creating their new living space. This focus on individuality helps survivors regain a sense of control and ownership, empowering them to reclaim their lives and fostering the healing process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omgosh! How exciting it would be to have my best friend visiting. I would first take her to:
Monday – Catching up on EVERYTHING
Tuesday – Bowlero for Rhythm & Bowl night
Wednesday – Brew City Kitchen & Cocktails for R & B Bingo + Karaoke
Thursday – STIRR Addison – Rooftop ((((VIBEZ))))
Friday – Sandaga – Live music, food & fun
Saturday – Sleep in….Lunch…..Shopping….Dinner
Sunday – Brunch & Neo Soul Sundays at Lava Cantina
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
