We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Fort and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most significant lesson I learned throughout this process was the importance of simply starting somewhere. Initiating that first step can be intimidating, yet it is pivotal. By embracing the unknown and sharing my art with the world, I uncovered a market for my work and experienced personal growth as an artist. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who harbors a creative passion to seize the moment. Just do it! Even when doubts arise, remember that success often stems from taking that initial leap. Believe in yourself, explore various artistic avenues, create with passion, and seize the opportunities that come your way. Embrace the incredible journey that awaits you

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d love to say, I’m not different! Lots of people out there are just as good, if not better than me! Anyone can do what I do and I love to encourage others to try it out for themselves!

I’ve always had a passion for painting and expressing my creativity. However, I never believed that others would be interested in purchasing my art. At times, I still battle with those doubts, but I have been proven wrong. The pandemic in 2020 afforded me abundant time to explore new art mediums and I began selling my pieces based on their value to the individual buyer. Through this approach, I gained increased exposure and, to my delight, my art began to sell.

Engaging in vendor events further enriched my journey. With each event, I became better equipped and more prepared than the previous one. These events provided an invaluable opportunity to observe how other artists set up their displays and connect with a nurturing community. I received support from numerous individuals who graciously offered assistance with unforeseen necessities, such as after-dark lighting and tent weights.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Aggieland is full of things to do! My favorite as of right now would be Vortex art studio, Victor has let me use his studio for some projects that I needed more space for! Victor at Vortex studio is a great guy who has the same goal of bringing people together through art, I really appreciate that about the people I have met there! Art groups are always fun a different!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My support from my small home town, friends and strangers is incredible! My parents for raising me with a creative imagination, and encouraging me to follow what came naturally! My partner is a big supporter as well, he allowed me to focus on developing my art instead of having to go back to regular work immediately after the pandemic. So grateful.
