We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Creasman Barnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
As a commission artist, I create custom paintings for clients. It means a lot to me that the paintings I create for people will live on walls for years to come. I make it a habit to communicate clearly with clients so I can fully understand their concepts, as well as the importance of the imagery in the painting. I think this dialogue contributes to the overall success of the painting.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I create custom paintings for people. Most of the time the images I paint are extremely sentimental to clients- like a portrait of a family member, a childhood home or a memory from a special vacation. I’m proud of my willingness to work closely with clients to achieve their visions. I am also fortunate to continue to pursue painting images personal to me, and I think my commissioned work only improves this work. My paintings can be seen at www.sarahcreasman.com and on Instagram @sarahcreasmanart and @sarahpaintings.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visit the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nashe Sculpture Center, and then wander around downtown- see the Giant Eyeball sculpture off Main St . Have a food truck lunch outside at Kylde Warren Park. Grab dinners/drinks in Lower Greenville, Knox-Henderson, Bishop Arts District, and Highland Park. Spend an afternoon at the Arboretum and have a picnic by White Rock Lake.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends who have always encouraged my artistic pursuits. I do not take this for granted, and it means the world to me. I am also encouraged by social media art platforms and online platforms like Voyage that connect artists and expose audiences to inspiration that would otherwise be out of reach.
