We had the good fortune of connecting with Russell Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Russell, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I did not have much of a thought process prior to starting my Art business. I just dived in. One might ask why not, and or suggest you think about all things before starting a business. However, thus far in my journey, I have found ‘just doing and living in the moment and accepting each bit of the process to be more profound and successful.

Sometimes thinking first prevents you from actually doing it, and if I thought about this particular business first I may have scared myself off or limited my own success. My thought process now is simply to continue to do me and learn more about my business as I go. I look at my business as a Me vs Me entity and not compare myself to any other artist or business in the market. Thus far I have to be pouring out success and inspiring others to achieve the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
-What sets you apart from others?

I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am a self-taught artist who not only focuses on the work I create for my clients but also within my aspirations. I wish to motivate others to follow their dreams in the world of fine arts. I believe this world is filled with so many talented young people who lack the chance to evolve into something greater than them. Even more, it is my utmost aspiration to become known as a person who made opportunities possible in areas others may have overlooked.

-What you are most proud of or excited about?

Currently, I am most proud and very excited about my first solo art exhibition ( it also being my first show ). I am very proud of myself for pushing and working through the process. The art show will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 7 pm.

-How did you get to where you are today professionally – Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

I would say No, and Yes to “was it easy”?: No, because it’s not easy being an entrepreneur with limited funds and know-how of certain elements. For example, I taught myself how to build my website from scratch, as well as proper methods to market myself to create revenue. Yes, because I am loving each moment and appreciating all of my triumphs and learning curves. I believe it’s only making me a better artist and businessman

-What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I would like the world to know me as a self-built brand & empire. Also as someone who never gave up, who influenced and encouraged other people to continue pursuing their dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I am still learning Los Angeles. I’ve been living here for a little over 2 years. However, one of my most favorite places to visit thus far is El Matador Beach in Malibu. The ocean view, the rocks, the atmosphere is perfect. One of the most relaxing places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends deserve all the flowers and all the shoutouts!!

It truly takes a village sometimes and I know for a fact I would not have endured or achieved some of my best successes without their encouragement and support.
