We had the good fortune of connecting with Renae Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My career as a Realtor has been extremely rewarding. However, like most agents I did struggle to find a place where I could flourish most. When I was building Sage Street Realty I set out to do 3 things. 1. Create an amazing culture. I wanted to provide an environment where Realtors would feel like they had a support system, had processes and tools to help them run a successful business, and relationships within the brokerage that would feel like a family. I truly want everyone to succeed. I want them to feel like they are not in this alone, and that at any moment they can pick up the phone and get the help, support, or a friend. 2. Diversify our income streams. Real Estate has up and down markets, so to combat that I try to provide alternative real estate related streams while also creating training opportunities. By creating multiple divisions of Sage Street Realty, I make sure that all sectors of real estate are offered at Sage Street Realty. We offer Property Management, Commercial, Relocation, and Investments. 3. Be a Better Broker. I want to be able to deliver on the promises I make to Realtors as they consider Sage Street Realty. I want to be available and accessible. Sage Street Realty has an amazing training system that is easy to use, and as we work as a family so you have many people that are willing to help you.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Yes! Sage Street Realty. My baby. I have to say I love real estate. I love working with people. I love helping them to the next place, and more than that, I LOVE watching Realtor’s fall in love with Real Estate also. I really wanted to create a company that people feel a sense of ownership to. I wanted to empower Realtors take charge of their time and become successful and a force to be reckoned with. I think what sets us apart most at Sage Street Realty is the emphasis on the FOCUS Philosophy. We truly treat each other as well as our customers like Family. We are always looking to create win-win Opportunities. There isn’t one day I know our Realtors are not Communicating with the utmost transparency and integrity. We know that everyone is different and we strive to cater to each individual’s Unique needs. And when you are looking to have Support in your transaction and beyond, look no further. These folks are 5-Star all day. Sage Street Realty has come so far in such a short amount of time. We opened in September of 2019. It took 6 months to get our first 6 agents. While I knew many agents, it is scary sometimes to take the jump and move to somewhere new. So I had a hard time conveying our message. It wasn’t until the pandemic hit in the spring of 2020, that I had some time to really formulate my thoughts and heart into a business model. We went from 6 agents and a digital office structure to 20 agents and 3 major cities across Texas. We have moved from being just a residential real estate company to a Multi-pronged company that allows our agents to grow in niche markets and train with experienced mentors. Sage Street Realty has given birth to Sage Street Residential, Sage Street Commercial, Sage Street Property Management, Sage Street Relocations, Sage Street Investments, and our newest venture, Premier ResCom and investment management company owned by 3 of our very own Agents! I am so proud of the way this company has grown and that has a lot to do with the amazing talent within. But it has not been easy. With Covid-19, a crazy market, and natural normal growing pains we have hit a few bumps for sure. I would say we were able to overcome those challenges by leaning on each other. I firmly believe that we were able to expand the way we have because we do keep the (FOCUS philosophy) at the heart of our business. We learned from each challenge that we really are stronger together. While each agent runs their own business, being alone can slow you down. Working in close proximity to success in each of us has made all of us better, stronger, and more resilient. I want the world to know Sage Street Realty. I want them to know the heart of this company and the people inside of it. I would hope that they see we care for our Realtors, clients and customers. No one is just a paycheck to us. In fact most of our past clients become friends. Also, I want people to know that we offer many real estate solutions so they can stay a part of our family no matter what stage of life or business they are in!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course I would bring my friend first to the Sage Street Realty office for a quick visit. We would have a draft beer and take a quick tour. I am a huge foodie, so I love the Trinity groves area near downtown. I love the AvoEatery and you truly can’t beat the view. I would also make a stop at 560 for drinks and appetizers. Of course you have to get a chocolate souffle there also! On a casual day I would visit Deep Ellem to walk around and enjoy the gorgeous views, cool art, and great vibe. Next I would head up to my neck of the woods to downtown plano. Grab a pizza at Urban Crust and finish off with drinks at Better Than Sex – Dessert Bar. We would have to run over to Fort Worth to see the Stock Yards and have some Texas BBQ at Coopers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Ben has always been very supportive. If he hadn’t suggested that I take the jump to becoming a broker, none of this would have been possible. Originally my intention for getting a brokers license was to work on my own and be an independent agent. Ben has always encouraged me to go beyond what I can do and be more. He is definitely at the top of my support system and a huge reason why Sage Street Realty is what it is today. Once I was set up as a broker and after some calls with old friends in the business and people I had worked with in the past, I quickly found that my leadership style of “we’re in this together” had made somewhat of an impact on others. If I didn’t have this first initial group of Realtors that believed in me and trusted me to help them continue to guide their careers, I don’t think I would have created Sage Street Realty the brokerage. For that I am forever grateful to my first six agents; Nikki, Rick, Marcie, Ignacio, Nadeem, and Kyle! But also to each and every Realtor who joins our family and helps us to grow stronger together! All through my life, I have had one person who has never stopped cheering me on. It’s my mother, Sandy. She has always been my biggest fan, and I know I would never have had the opportunities I have had if she wasn’t there. She teaches me still to this day to love people hard and to genuinely care for others. She is an amazing role model for me, and she always takes the time to tell me when I spelled something wrong on Facebook!
