We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Pinnock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray, what do you attribute your success to?
“As a 30-year professional wedding and events DJ, the most important factor behind my success is consistency. I’ve built my brand by delivering the same high level of energy, professionalism, and passion at every event. Couples and clients know they can trust me to read the crowd, keep the night flowing, and create unforgettable moments. That trust and experience are the foundation of my success.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is creating unforgettable experiences through music and entertainment. What sets me apart is that I don’t just play songs — I create moments. Whether it’s a bride’s first dance, a corporate celebration, or a packed dance floor at a festival, I focus on reading the crowd and making the energy flow naturally. I’m most proud of the fact that people trust me with the biggest moments of their lives, and that I can look back and see the joy I’ve helped create for thousands of families, couples, and communities.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like many in the entertainment world, I’ve faced setbacks, slow seasons, and the challenge of standing out in a crowded industry. I overcame it by staying consistent, being authentic, and always showing up prepared. The lesson I’ve learned is that success doesn’t come from chasing every trend — it comes from knowing who you are, serving people well, and building trust over time.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: I’m passionate about people and the power of music. Dance and Joy Entertainment is built on faith, family, and creating legendary memories. I’m not just a DJ — I’m someone who pours his heart into every event, so when the night ends, people leave saying, ‘That was unforgettable.’

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want them to get the full DFW experience — a mix of great food, live music, culture, and fun.

We’d start the week off in McKinney, because that’s home. I’d take them to the historic downtown square — grab breakfast at one of the local coffee shops, stroll through the boutiques, and catch some live music at a spot like The Celt or Hank’s.

Midweek, we’d hit Dallas for the energy of Deep Ellum. There’s nothing like the street art, the live bands, and a good plate of barbecue or tacos. We’d also check out the Dallas Arts District and maybe catch a Mavericks or Cowboys game depending on the season.

We’d make a trip up to Frisco to see The Star (Cowboys HQ), walk around Legacy West in Plano for good eats and nightlife, and of course, spend some time out at one of the lakes to relax and recharge.

And since I’m a DJ, I’d have to close the week with some nightlife — maybe Uptown Dallas or a live show at House of Blues, where we could dance, catch great vibes, and enjoy the kind of atmosphere that inspires me every day.

For me, the best part of DFW isn’t just the places, it’s the people. There’s so much diversity, so many creatives, and so much energy here — you can have a week full of unforgettable memories without even scratching the surface.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to dedicate my shoutout, it would first go to my wife, Saundra. She’s been my biggest supporter and the one who keeps me grounded and focused. Building a brand in the wedding and events industry isn’t easy, and her encouragement has been priceless. I also have to give credit to my family and close friends who have always believed in me and reminded me why I do what I do.

Beyond that, I’d shout out to the wedding community, my fellow DJs, and all the amazing couples and clients who’ve trusted me with their most important celebrations. Every event has shaped me, pushed me to grow, and reminded me that this isn’t just a job — it’s a calling. Without their trust and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
