Meet Radha Driver | Owner of Spiked Sweets

We had the good fortune of connecting with Radha Driver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Radha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I first started making small, spiked treats at the bar I was working at like the pudding shots, moonshine cherries and gummy bears. It was when it was my best friend’s birthday that I did my first spiked cupcakes that were gin and tonic since that was his favorite. After that I decide to start making other flavors and expand what I can do. I got great feedback from everyone about the new items. It started small with friends and word of mouth and has grown to reach people that I didn’t even know knew about what I did. I always make everything fresh to order and do small to big orders. I have had the opportunity to do wedding receptions, baby showers, birthday parties, and I have even made some Spiked Sweets desserts for a few chefs with great feedback. I absolutely love making Spiked Sweets and hope to one day open my own Spiked Sweets Dessert Bar storefront.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Besides running and growing Spiked Sweets, I am an apartment manager for Willmax Capital. I have been with the company for 6 years and they completely support me running my business. Before that I was in the service industry for many years. I definitely attribute my years in the service industry for my work ethic and my hustling spirit. I also started another business that I run online on Etsy called Jars R Sweet. For that I do decorative liquor/wine bottles, mason jars and other craft items that I can ship anywhere. I love tapping into my creative side with Spiked Sweets and Jars R Sweet. I work hard and have big dreams for my business that I hope to make a reality in the next few years.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to downtown Plano. My favorite bar down there is Vickery Park. Have to go there to get some brunch and good cocktails Katy Trail Icehouse is a great outdoor area and their burgers are awesome. Shops of Legacy and Legacy West is a great place to barhop around and you have to have dinner at Haywire. Can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Downtown Dallas has so many great places. Klyde Warren Park has the best food trucks. Easy Sliders are my favorite. Also Truck Yard Dallas has a great vibe and so many cute dogs! Can’t go wrong with their philly cheesesteak they make. Got to make sure that they catch a Dallas Mavericks game. The Warwick Melrose in Dallas is a gorgeous place to stay. Their Library Bar is a great place for cocktails and music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My forever person Blake Clark. We have known each other for about 15 years now. He was the inspiration for me to do my first spiked cupcakes and has always been my biggest cheerleader as I grow and evolve myself and my business. It great to have that one person that you know will always have your back, encourage, and push you.
