We had the good fortune of connecting with PONSUDA. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PONSUDA., what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I always loved all forms of art since I was a kid. I wanted to be a painter, writer, film director, musician, dancer, rapper, basically everything! When I was young I didn’t have many people to teach me strength, independence or confidence, I was able to learn it through music thankfully. When I was 16 years old I decided I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to making music I love in hopes to connect with other people and give them confidence to move forward in whatever they are doing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist that wears many hats! Music producer first, graphic designer, video editor, DJ, business owner, curator, engineer soon to be painter!!!

The most important thing to know about my art is that it comes directly from my heart and soul, the only reason I do it is because I love it and I could care less how much I get paid from it as long as it pays my bills comfortably. I don’t do this for any fans or any mentors, it’s all for myself and it’s real. It’s a long journey that is ever-evolving and you’re either here for the journey or not!

There is only one reason I have been able to get where I am today and gain any success in my profession and it’s by not stopping. It’s the only advice I give to younger artists, or anyone really. We are capable of anything that is possible, the only trick to achieve what you want is to never stop! It’s not easy, and sometimes the fun of it stops and it becomes a long boring grind, but the greats are the ones who are willing to do the boring, mindless tasks nobody else is willing to do every day.

I want everyone to look at my story of someone who grew up in a poor neighborhood and had no one to help me in life, create my own social group and have success out of thin air through perseverance, work ethic and faith!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not gonna lie, I’m a true introvert. However, I can tell you in Dallas there is something for anyone. Depending on the person you may want to go to different parts of the DFW area. Deep Ellum would be a spot to go and have drinks and see some cool music! Maybe even get a tattoo at the famous Elm Street place.
If they like it fancy, we could go shopping at University Park, Uptown or Legacy Hall. Don’t get me started on the food options.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mane, I’ve been inspired by so many things coming up. Originally it was just the artists I grew up with like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Three 6 Mafia, UGK, and tons of metal bands like Korn, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold and many many more bands and genres of all kinds.

Early on in my music career I had the opportunity to join Holy Mob which is a collective of producers who have helped curate and forge the OG phonk movement that so many love today. It started out as a phonk project, but as time went on we began bending the genre and creating styles of our own gaining worldwide recognition and inspiring an entire generation to come.

Soon after I was able to join Always Proper for a short period of time and although I never had any music released through them I was able to rock a show with them and end up meeting 2 of my closest friends even still to this day. “Memory” and “cursive” or “DJ CURZ” would end up being my brothers and helping me not only with my music career, but personally as well.

I grinded hard for almost a decade releasing music constantly, all independently really being introverted and not working or collabing with many.

Over the last year I started a new company with some friends here in Dallas, Texas that are also artists. “Bright Ideas, Daddy Durdee, Ponsuda., DJ Curz make up our company “Infinite Wav” where we throw underground shows in Dallas and release music and merch online as a record label. We have been able to build the community here in our area by throwing these shows and monthly/weekly residencies DJing at venues promoting our own shows and new releases.

If it wasn’t for every single person in these groups mentioned above, I wouldn’t be the artist who I am today and I am extremely grateful to you guys!

Some inspiration honorable mentions – DJ Smokey, Soudiere, Jason Rich, Paulo (AKA 6-6-6), Mythic, Hymbeats and many more!
