Meet Parker Diffie | Host, Producer, Editor of “Who Do We Think We Are?” With the Diffie’s and COO of “The Grazefully Southern Co. “

We had the good fortune of connecting with Parker Diffie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Parker, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was deeply rooted in my desire for independence and self-expression, especially in the wake of my father’s passing. Growing up as the son of country music legend Joe Diffie, I always felt an immense pressure to uphold his legacy while carving out my own identity. After his passing in 2020, I was thrust into the role of executor of his estate, which not only provided me with a unique opportunity to honor my father’s memory but also challenged me to step out of the shadows and embrace my own voice. I realized that I wanted to create a platform where I could convey my thoughts, share stories, and foster connections within the community. This led to the creation of my podcast, “Who Do We Think We Are,” where I invite guests to join me in meaningful conversations about creativity, resilience, and the journey of navigating life in the public eye.
Throughout my career, I have worn many hats—from working in retail and technology to touring as a musician and managing logistics. Each of these experiences has equipped me with valuable skills and insights that I now apply to my entrepreneurial endeavors. The podcast serves as a culmination of my diverse background, allowing me to channel my creativity and passion into a project that resonates with listeners. It’s not just about sharing my journey; it’s about building a community where others can share theirs as well. Additionally, my involvement with nonprofits such as Plus3Golf and Next Response Foundation, has been a way for me to give back and continue my father’s legacy of helping others. By intertwining my business pursuits with philanthropic efforts, I am striving to create a lasting impact that honors my father’s memory while fostering a space for collaboration, creativity, and connection.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been a winding journey, marked by a series of challenges and invaluable lessons that have shaped me into the person I am today. After coming off the road full-time as a musician, I found myself at a crossroads, navigating the complexities of re-entering corporate life. I took on three jobs—working at UPS, Kroger, and then starting part-time at Lowe’s for just $8.88 an hour. The transition from life on a tour bus to a structured work environment was anything but easy. As a young parent at 19, I faced the dual pressures of raising two kids while trying to make ends meet. It was a time when the weight of responsibilities felt heavy, but it also ignited a fierce determination within me. I realized that I couldn’t tell my children not to give up if I was willing to quit myself.
The struggles I faced during those early years taught me invaluable lessons about patience, understanding, and the necessity of providing explanations. I learned that life doesn’t always go as planned and that opportunities can be fleeting. There were moments when I squandered chances, believing that more would come my way, only to realize that I had to fight for what I wanted. Balancing a mortgage and the demands of family life while juggling three jobs was tough, but it fueled my ambition to rise above my circumstances. Eventually, through hard work and perseverance, I worked my way up to a management position at Lowe’s. This experience was transformative, as it taught me the essence of exceptional customer service and the importance of adaptability in leadership.
Managing a team of 25 to 30 people at any given time sharpened my leadership skills and broadened my perspective. I quickly realized that not everyone can be “blanket managed” and that each individual requires a tailored approach based on their strengths and challenges. This understanding has been crucial in shaping my leadership style and has influenced the way I view challenges—not just as obstacles, but as opportunities to learn and grow. Now, as I embark on this new chapter with my podcast and entrepreneurial ventures, I carry these lessons with me, eager to create a platform that fosters collaboration and creativity while honoring my father’s legacy.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my journey is one of resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to authenticity. I believe in the power of storytelling and the importance of connection, which is exactly what my podcast, “Who Do We Think We Are,” aims to achieve. It’s not just about sharing my experiences; it’s about creating a space for others to share theirs. Every challenge I’ve faced has brought me to this moment, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their journeys, no matter how difficult they may seem. My children are my motivation, and I strive to be a role model for them, showing them that perseverance and hard work can lead to fulfilling opportunities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Nashville for a week, I’d want to give them a memorable experience that captures the heart and soul of this vibrant city. We’d kick off our adventure with a visit to Dicey’s for some of the best pizza in town. The laid-back atmosphere and delicious pies set the perfect tone for our trip. After fueling up, we’d head to Broadway to soak in the lively sights and sounds that Nashville is famous for. From the honky-tonks filled with live music to the street performers showcasing their talents, it’s an exhilarating experience that embodies the spirit of Music City.
Next on our itinerary would be a visit to the iconic Ryman Auditorium, where we’d dive into the history of country music. A guided tour would give us insights into the legends who graced the stage and the impact this venue has had on the music industry. Afterward, we’d make our way to Printer’s Alley, where we could unwind at a local blues bar, reveling in the soulful sounds and electric atmosphere. For dinner, we’d indulge in a meal at Ella’s, a charming Italian restaurant known for its delectable chicken Parmesan and an unforgettable espresso martini. To top off the evening, we’d share a rich tiramisu, savoring the moment and the flavors of the night.
Throughout the week, we’d explore other facets of Nashville, from the art scene in East Nashville to the unique shops in 12 South. We might catch a live show at the Bluebird Café or visit the Country Music Hall of Fame to further immerse ourselves in the local culture. Whether we’re enjoying a casual afternoon at Centennial Park or dancing the night away at a rooftop bar, my goal would be to showcase the fun, interesting, and exciting elements that make Nashville such a special place. By the end of the week, I’d hope my friend would leave with a deeper appreciation for the city and a collection of unforgettable memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to a few remarkable individuals who have been instrumental in this journey. First and foremost, I’d like to thank Al McManus and Jeff Lysyczyn, my father’s former management team, who have now taken the reins as the current management team for the estate of Joe Diffie. Their unwavering support and friendship have been invaluable to me as we navigate the complexities of managing my father’s legacy together. They have not only been business partners but also trusted allies who genuinely have my best interests at heart. Their expertise and dedication have allowed me to focus on my creative endeavors while knowing I have a solid foundation behind me.
I also want to extend my appreciation to Brett Emmers, the founder of Plus3Golf. Brett’s belief in my skill set and his vision for the bigger picture have inspired me to push beyond my limits. His drive and passion for success are contagious, and I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with him.
Lastly, I want to thank all of our listeners for their incredible support and for taking the time to engage with our podcast. Your enthusiasm means the world to us and fuels our passion to keep creating content that resonates.
And, as every good husband should, I want to thank my wife, Tasha Diffie, whose unwavering love and support lifts me up every single day. Her belief in me is a constant reminder of why I do what I do, and for that, I am forever grateful.
