We had the good fortune of connecting with O’soL Music and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi O’soL, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason why I pursued an artistic career is because it is more than a hobby, it’s my passion. I breathe music, eat music, see music, hear music, love music, I am MUSIC! I’ve been singing since I was 3-years-old.
I grew up singing in the church choir, and I’ve always loved singing.
When I sing my songs or any song, I sing with and from my soul.
I want anyone listening to feel me wherever they are, the passion that flows through my veins is what drives me to create more and more soulful music: which is why I’ve been pursing this career.
The art of being able to turn feelings into relatable songs for those who can’t or don’t know how to put their feelings into words, is a more than a talent.
It’s a Gift!
A gift given to you one, by God.
So what else would I or should I do with such a beautiful, melodious gift?
What would you do with it?

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is the embodiment of realness, blessings, true life-storytelling, happy times, pain, heartbreaks, and love. I take everything I’ve genuinely been through and put in my music. Rod Wave and Roddy Richh are the ones that I learn from when it comes to the way the tell their stories, to the cadences of their lyrics
I like to say I’m young by age, but really a 45-year-old in the soul.
My music is a mixture of Old School soul meets New School RnB.
With Michael Jackson, Jill Scott, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, Lauryn Hill, Ari Lennox, Snoh Aalegra, Lucky Daye, Giveon, Summer Walker, Jasmine Sullivan, India.Arie, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Shakira, HER, Monica, Sir, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and George Benson as my source of inspiration.
Their sounds, power in their voices, vocal strategies to hit certain notes is what moves me to really pursue, learn , and become a better artist and songwriter.
I only strive to be a better me, nothing more; nothing less.

What sets me apart from other artist is that I am blessed and highly favored, having God as the center of everything, and always being me,
I only move with pure intentions.
I would never pretend to be who I am not.
I would never pretend or lie about things I have or don’t
What you see is what you get!
My heart, spirit, and soul all move genuinely with peace, love, and happiness.
My artistry is different on so many levels.
The way I yearn for my music to be heard is on a different level.
I want people to hear me and my voice takes them back to their childhood, remind them of a time they shared with their loved ones, and even realize things they haven’t realized till they heard my voice and words to follow.
There’s only one me, any other is a counterfeit.

As a student at University of Houston- Victoria, studying Computer Information Systems to obtain my Bachelors.
I’m also learning how to run a business through different classes, better writing skills, etc. Is all part of my journey to become the best me as a woman, singer, and songwriter.
I was also blessed with other talents, such as a being an MUA @COLORSBYO on Instagram. I have over 2oo clients, but I stopped to invest in my music.
I’m also a Youtuber where I showcase my talent of my artistry. @COLORSBYO

I’m very proud of how far I’ve come, and where I’m headed.
I leave everything in Gods hands, but still make sure I put in the work.
If you want something you have to work smart to get it, believe and trust the process.
Enjoy the process while your at it. The journey will be so worth it once you’re where you wanted to be.
Sometimes you may want to give up, and the time you want to give up is when that blessing is literally at your doorstep. Don’t give up, keep your head up, pray and have God at the center of whatever it is you want.
MANIFESTATION WORKS!!!
I’m excited for so many projects that haven’t even touch surface yet.
So many more relatable body of music coming soon.
I was so excited when I dropped my latest single “Love Me’, it came out on September 9th. The 9th is a very significant number for me, that you all will understand sooner or later.

The road hasn’t been easy, being a woman in the industry there’s always someone either trying to take advantage of you, or unmind you because you’re a woman.
My first single was in 2018, the song is called “Ife Mi” Pro. by @OhdaStudio.
Nothing came out of it, the team was very greedy.
As an artist there will be so many greedy people that come your way, be sure to be able to peep out Swiper the Fox when you see them.
The way the song sounds wasn’t how I brought it to the producer.
He decided his way was better, so I said “Ok” because maybe I didn’t know what I was talking about, but my listeners felt the same way, so that was all the confirmation I needed. There wasn’t any promotion done for the song, back then I didn’t know too much but now that I’ve grown a lot more wiser, I make sure my sound is being heard the way I want people to hear me.
Don’t get me wrong I’m here for advice and lots of constrictive criticism. But the artist should also have a say so in what they want.
“Ife Mi” which means “My Love” in Yoruba. Yes, I’m Nigerian.
My naija people “How una dey?”
“Ife Mi” Is an afro-beat love song, I love afro-beat but I knew I was an RnB/Soul singer and when I brought the song, like I said we reconstructed the whole thing and made it comfortable to the producers liking.
I’m very versatile, but I know what suits my voice, and what brings out everything that I seek for my listeners to hear and feel.
So that single was a flop, and I personally felt like it could’ve went well if there was proper promotion.
I will forever be grateful for ‘Ohda Studio” regardless of the ups and downs, check out his dope beats.

Fast-forward to 2022, I was contacted by Stephen Shaback known for @Panchemultimedia a wedding Cinematographer, a great one at that; who also owns ThePendulumSessions a platform for artist to either showcase their original songs or covers.
He contacted me via Instagram on September 2nd, 2021 to be on that platform, but when we linked we were trying to pick a song I would cover as agreed, but ended up making my second single called “Strawberry” that I released February 14,2022 came with my beat and was ready to flow on the mic as usual.

The cover art for “Strawberry” was taken By @DONPHOTOGRYLLC one of the greatest photographers in Dallas.
I’ve collaborated with @ITISMYTURNNOW_ which is a T-shirt brand own by Ms.Treonte, who also works with DON to get beautiful shots for her brand as well.
Also know as the @TSHIRTDOCTOR on TikTok
DON was the first photographer in Dallas to work with me and show me my potential when it came to modeling as well.

My third single was “Intentional” that was released on June 9th, 2022.
Those were the two projects we completed together.
Mr.Shabz helped me get on the surface, and help me put out the sound I’ve always wanted people to hear me as.
Even-still, he didn’t have time to really put into me or my craft.
It was like a side hustle, and investment for him, but a passion and investment for me.
That was the cause of our split, he had too much to take on and I also noticed he put other people before his “artist” he just liked to say I was his artist because he knows where I’m going, and I will get there with or without him.
He produced my latest single “Love Me” , and I mixed and mastered it myself which I released on the 9th, of September.
I am more than blessed and grateful for working with Mr.Shabz, but its time to move on and do things my way and to the fullest potential.
No more half-ass energy when it comes to me, it’s either you’re in and invested or you can use the door.

The cover art for “Love Me” was taken by another great photographer in Dallas, Tx named @ShotbyYov.
I designed the cover art as well.

It hasn’t been easy, but again I’m more than grateful for this journey.
I’m ready and have been manifesting nothing but greatness thus far.
Everything happens for a reason like my mother instills in me everyday.
Challenges are like the last two bites you struggle to eat but still find room in your stomach to fit because the meal taste so good, you will be wanting those last two bites out of no- where later on.
So NO, it’s not easy. No one said it would be easy.
I’ve learned through it all to really enjoy the process.

O’soL is a brand that the “O” stands for Onome. Which means “She’s Mines” in Urhobo language, a name my dad named me when I was born.
I love this name, and I’ve worked really hard to stamp this name to my face because most people know me as “Tobi” more like my family name. O’soL is a Nigerian girl who left Nigeria when she was 3-years-old, to Miami, Florida.
I grew up in Miami, so I’m definitely a city girl. PERIOD!
I left Miami, FL at 14 to Dallas, TX where I got a chance to really explore myself as woman, singer, and songwriter.
I’ve worked with so many producers but all of them literally wanted something else, I would come in as a passionate singer just to be looked at as prey. It was definitely a process and still is, a very big learning experience.
I am so very grateful for everyone who’s been apart of my growth and experience as an Artist.
IT’S MY TURN NOW!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were to visit Dallas, I would definitely bring them to the African night life scene to hear beautiful Afro-beat songs, as long as they are wearing the right heels we will be alright. Wicked DJ’s that play the new jams.
My favorite African Night life are DJ Yuh, DJ Bode, DJ Tayson, DJ Oladex, DJ Rell, I can’t remember all their names but there are plenty more.

My favorite spot is Abi’s Lounge, located Richardson, Tx. I love Abi’s because of the atmosphere, the people that come to Abi’s are stress free people that come out to enjoy themselves after a long day, and week or hard working.
The dance floor is where I let go, the dance lights up and all my sorrows have disappeared. I only go out to dance, I love to dance when the DJ knows what he’s doing.
The other lounges are to small and don’t enough room for the amount of people that come out.

Zodiac Lounge is also another one of my favorite spots to go to on a Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, especially
Zodiac Lounge is located in Sunday night. That’s for the older people in my opinion. People with common sense. Nothing but vibes with the older crowd.
Zodiac is ran by Piccadelli & Poro Entertainment which is located in Carrolton, Tx
Zodiac lounge is where I met Felicia the Dancer @FELIOFFICIAL_, who I enjoy partying with, she can dance. I call her Happy feet, because man when it comes to dancing or choreography count on Feli to do her thang!

Arena Lounge, located in Irving, Tx organized by Whales & Kunmzy Entertainment. Kunmzy also owns a brand called TNK Collections @TNKCOLLECTION, that I modeled for as well. Kunmzy gives me the opportunity to perform at Arena Lounge, it’s an new upcoming venue but will be the new spot eventually. It has so much space, AC is super chilled, hookah is smooth, everyone that works there are pretty chilled and has fun with us all while we are there. I personally love how there’s so much room. Thank You Kunmzy for always supporting me and allowing me to express my talent on your platform.

I also like STIRR in Deep Ellum, Bishop St, and Moxies. Great food, music, scenery to take beautiful picture, etc. Nothing but vibes in Dallas really.
If you’re ever coming to visit Dallas, make sure you bring your dancing shoes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first want to give a big shoutout to God, for everything he has done thus far and for what is yet to come. I don’t know where I would be today spiritually, mentally, physically, or emotionally without him.
He has never failed me and I know he won’t!
I’m his favorite just in case y’all ain’t know.
Thank you God!

My biggest supporters are my family, but especially my Mother.
She is my biggest supporter, she believes in everything I put my mind to. Everything I set my heart on.
She is the source of my inspiration for my last single “Love Me” because of everything she went through in her life, I went through some of the same cycles in my life. YES! Generational curses are real, you just have to be spiritually inclined and very vigilant when it comes to certain things that happen in your life. So this song is an double entendre, if I must add. So there is way more meaning to my lyrics than the ears hear.
She is an amazing women, being, my guardian angel, she knows me like the back of her hand. I don’t know what I would do without her.
I am so blessed and honored to have you as a mother, and the priviliegde to call you Mommy.
Thank you Mommy, I love you like KILODE!

My siblings are my babies, and as the first born I feel this pressure of having to pave the way for my younger ones and many more generations to come.
I have a younger brother (Samuel) and baby sister (Temiloluwa). They are my world, I literally raised them and they have so many of my qualities sometimes it’s weird how in synced we all could be sometimes.
I am so proud and honored to be their big sister.
My brother is my twin, I always tell people he’s my older brother that came four years after me. He is so wise, and I see myself in him so much! He is very intelligent, assertive, funny, and a very loving person.
I like to say he is the most selfish, yet loving person in the world. I don’t see anything wrong with that because he knows how to take care of himself, make sure he’s good but still worried about his family all at the same time,
He is always makes sure I’m good, and literally has been there all the time.
Samuel is also big on twitch and twitter, (@sammypiece_) where he streams all of his 2K games.
He has a team and they compete with other teams from all around the world.
He is an amazing player, he has devoted so much time and has invested in his passion.
I am so proud of you Sammy, more grease to your elbow!
I remember when he told me… ‘When you make it, I’m telling them we putting y’all on because we been knew about her, y’all just catching on.” One of my favorite words I’ve heard from anyone in this world.
Thank you Sammy, I love you broski!

My baby girl Temi, is my mini-me but also my moms mini-me with their resemblance. Temi believes in me and see me for who I am. My beautiful sister is such a sweetheart, my hype woman I wouldn’t ask for a different baby sister ever. She goes to school and tells her teachers to stream all of my singles, and introduced me to all her friends when I pick her up from school. She’s amazing and I love her so much!
Thank you Temi, Love you baby girl

My brothers girlfriend Cristina is also one of my biggest supporters, her and my brother have been to every show and Cristina is my outlet when I’m on stage.
When I see Cristina smiling and singing my songs with me, It keeps me at ease and then we smile at each other, I literally lose all types of nervousness. She is such a beautiful being as well,
She is my sister, and she has been there for both my brother and I.
Cristina is a real one, my brother is truly blessed to have someone like Cristina in his life, they are a match made in heaven.
They give me hope when it comes to love.
I appreciate her for always believing in me, giving me words of affirmation to never give up.
Thank you Cristina, I love you sissy! “It’s an Aries thing!”

My dad also supports me. but me and him but heads a lot only because we have so much in common and he expects so much from me.
As I’ve grown wiser to understand his point of view, I still will say we live and we learn from all of our mistakes.
Growing up I was a daddy’s girl, and I believe that I still am but I just grew into loving my mom more because she’s literally always been there and never stopped giving up on me wither I made mistakes or not; she never turned her back on me.
I love my dad, and appreciate everything he has done for me till this day.
Thank you Daddy, Love you!

My friend, sister, mentor, Kristina owner of @alignmentcandles, where you can get beautiful crystals, bracelets, candles, raw shea butter, and handmade necklaces and everything is my spirit sister.
She is a very beautiful being. She helps me stay on course when I start to drift, if I am overthinking… AGAIN she sets me straight.
Kristina is a mentor to me, we have a lot in common and she helps me bring clarity to things I can’t see sometimes. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything which is what I need in this line or career I’m embarking on.
Kristina is someone that I would love to have as a manager, she listens to my music and tells me my wrongs and what I need to fix.
Finds me shows, tells me what I need to post, what type of content to post while still running her business.
Kristina takes me serious and believes me in most importantly.
Thank you Kristina, keep being you Boss lady, Love you always sis!

My friend Grace, she is a makeup artist. @_cakedbygrace
She is such a great person, we met at Music Embassy Records, where I was working with a producer named Ryan. She was the security at the time there. She heard me sing and just washed me with encouraging words and telling me not to give up on my dreams, till this day she pushes me in everything that I do and supports my music to the fullest. She’s a great person, and I am so blessed to know someone as dope as her.
Thank you Grace, Love you sis!

Lastly, Andikan who is also a great artist! Also known as his stage name @USANGA.31 or FREE ONE.
Long time friend. Who see’s me as for who I am.
One of my favorite song of his is “DON’T PLAY”.
From his voice, style and the beat, “DON’T PLAY’ is a real vibe checker,
He was the one that helped me find the confidence to actually rap, he’s an exquisite rapper with crazy word play, and a crazy cadence to follow.
He speaks his truth through his music as well.
He is a great person and stands for what he believes in, I appreciate him for always being there and helping find the confidence to rap and find my flow.
I’ve always wanted to rap but when I was younger, I didn’t have the confidence I have today.
And with his help, words of encouragements, him always believing in me, the first to congratulate me every time I drop a single and just always hearing me out.
I’ve just been on a roll ever since, I know how to combine my singing with my rap nice and smooth.
With his push in all that I do, I’m more than grateful for him in my life. SLAT!
