We had the good fortune of connecting with Ophelia Atte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ophelia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t think of it as a business at first; it was more of a pastime that I enjoyed and would pursue in my leisure time. In 2009, my first project was to help a friend with her wedding place card. That year, I started an Event Stationery Company. I was in charge of wedding stationery, menus, seating charts, and other aspects of the event. I also oversaw the décor and planning for family, church, and friend weddings and other occasions.
However, having the opportunity to help plan my sister’s wedding from start to finish four years later was the final push I needed. It was then that I made the decision to add and focus on the event planning element of my business. I had no idea that 13 years later, I would still be here and love it.
Second, I wanted to use my knowledge, talents, and expertise to advance this particular profession in my community and offer happiness to couples who needed my services.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It was a difficult decision determining whether or not to leave my accounting career to pursue my first passion. Finding the capital to start and grow a company was similarly difficult. Uncertainty was another obstacle I had to tackle. It’s difficult to deal with the unknown.
But I did it, and I’m so glad I did. I’m thankful for it, and every setback has taught me something. They made me stronger and more determined.

At Ophelia Event Affairs, we bring a fresh perspective to event design. We are designed with modern style and elegance to reflect the personalities of her clients. We cater to busy professionals who highly value the guest experience and overall aesthetic and design of the event. Our ideal clients aren’t afraid to think outside the box. They trust our work and value our experiences.
We go above and beyond for our customers and vendors. We make sure they get the service and help they need. We don’t see them as clients- but as family. That smile on our clients face at the end of the night is the best gift.
We make sure that for that day, it’s all about the couple and their loved ones. We make a point also to respect all of the cultures and traditions of our clients.
So, what services do we offer? In summary, we provide full planning, partial planning, month of coordination, wedding stationery and bridal concierge services.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Uptown Dallas is full with top-rated hotels, modern facilities, and new infrastructure, giving it the traditional posh Dallas atmosphere.
I love simplicity and elegance – we could grab a handcrafted lemonade, smoothie, or a healthy bite from Wow Wow Lemonade in Bishop Arts. Drive just 4 minutes to Kidd Springs Park
Take a stroll through the park, find a seat in the shade and enjoy. There’s a Japanese-style garden across the metal bridge – the pond and the surrounding area is just as breathtaking!
Hotel Crescent Court | Uptown : If you’re feeling like treating yourself to a day of luxury, a day pass at The Crescent gets you access to their heated outdoor pool as well as their spa (with discounted services), complimentary champagne, pool bar, and more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! My favorite photographer Davis Ndouba, owner of Prunelens Photography.
She is exceptional at what she does and knows how to capture priceless moments.
She’s always been my biggest supporter, and I’m eternally grateful for her kindness and encouragement.
