We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is the number one reason I am where I am currently. I took a risk years ago quitting my full time job to purse my passion (photography) as a full time venture. It was scary and not an easy path but I continued to push forward and take every opportunity that came my way to lead me exactly where I am today!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography was something that came to me very naturally! I started out by taking simple iPhone photos of my friends, setting up sets in my room and just having fun with it. Then about 5 years ago now my friend Tawny convinced to finally buy an actual DSLR to start taking my photography a little more seriously. This drove me to take a couple college courses and learn more about how to work my new camera body and plenty of fun photo projects that Tawny later modeled for. Those photos and memories are very fun to look back on now! Starting out Tawny was the main person I could get to model for me so when she wasn’t available I started experimenting a lot with self portraits. This next step taught me a lot about posing, how it feels to be on both sides of that lens and so much more. Later down the road I met Jayson and the rest is history with many fun memories being made constantly. I’m absolutely loving this journey so far and very excited to see more come to life in the future!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting from out of town I’d do : Brunch : Eggs & Jam
Dinner : CabCo

Love these two places SO MUCH!

Aside from eating, taking photos would have to be next on the itinerary. I love a good downtown vibe or the Valley Junction area for some cute charm! I usually just drive around and drop pins at cool locations I find since I am in fact alwayssss location scouting lol!

The last thing on the itinerary would be thrifting. I love checking out any thrift, second hard stores etc. Next to always location scouting, I’m also always looking for new props to incorporate into a session!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate a shoutout to two people one being, Jayson Hinrichsen my fiancé and business partner! He is the one who many years ago who convinced me I was capable enough to take on photography full time as well as teaching me many skills along the way. My second shoutout going to Emmett Phillips who helped me take my passion of photography to a new level I couldn’t imagine was possible just a couple years ago. The help from all the amazing people in my life has been huge part in my venture!
