Meet Mycah | Founder of Murdered Streetwear

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mycah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mycah, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of creating a brand started back when I was 16 (2008). My friends and I used to go to this venue in the stock yards called “The Door” they played a lot of alternative, hardcore, metal, emo type music Like Sky Eats Airplane, Bring Me the Horizon, Norma Jean, Forever the Sickest Kids, Forever Midnight Sun and so much more. We all collected merch / tees from all the bands we saw. The more tees you had the cooler you were, it was also like wearing your heart on your sleeve. From then on I was hooked, I knew I wanted to print t-shirts but little did I know it would be the inspiration and foundation to creating a streetwear brand that could potentially go global!
As far as Murdered Streetwear it started back around 2017-2018. At the time I was doing photography and videography to make extra money while working 2 part time jobs. My personal instagram is @murderedbymycah and I’ve had that handle since 2012, to me back then Murdered meant “kill everything you do” that venture was called MBM VISIONS, MBM standing for Murdered By Mycah . Well the dreams of starting a clothing line has always been in the back of my mind. One day I shortened MBM VISIONS to just Murdered, used an ICONIC old english font, then based my business around an Hybrid of Urban and Alternative Lifestyle all while incorporating photography, videography, graphic design and apparel to tell a story.
The slogan “the old you must die” came a year or so later. Originally it was “the old you must die, so the new you can thrive” but realized it was too long and didn’t feel right coming off the tongue, so I cut off the back half and kept it short, sweet and to the point. THE OLD YOU MUST DIE.

What should our readers know about your business?
Murdered is a lifestyle brand that focuses on urban and alternative subcultures. What sets me apart is the consistency and drive I have for this vision. Everyone wants to do what they love but most never follow through. I’m proud that I never listened to all the people who said I couldn’t do it and excited because I know this brand can be as big as I dream. I am where I am in business because I’m not afraid to take risk, ask questions and look for help. Some major Challenges was time and finances you need time to work on your passion / business and you need money to fund it all finding the balance between the two is pure chaos. All I can say is work hard take risk cause “our time on earth is never promised”. Some would say YOLO. A few Lessons I’ve learned along the way is success doesn’t happen overnight it happens on those sleepless nights, it happens when you say one more try.
One thing that I want the world to know about me and my brand is I believe that peace is at the end of it and I hope I find it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie so most of these places are based off of food in Fort Worth that are in my rotation,
Coco shrimp it the literal definition of addiction, Topgolf (yes they have good food), Hatsuyuki hand roll bar has ruined sushi for me, I cannot eat sushi anywhere else anymore without the comparing, west 7th for drinks mainly but yes the have good food in the area like Rodeo Goat & Reservoir, Mercado Juarez cafe, Flying Saucer, Atico, Ol’ South Pancake House, Buffalo Bros, B&B Butchers, Funky Town Donuts, Woodshed smokehouse, The Poop Deck and Snooze. I know I missed a lot of great restaurants but these are some of the places I go to constantly.
We could also Kayak the trinity, go to some TCU games, hit up some breweries & comedy show at hyenas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a quote that says “originality is dead” I like to live by it because it keeps me humble. How that ties into the shout out section is:
Every day I’m inspired by the world and people around me. To say I’m that original or got here alone is disrespectful.
These people listed inspire me & or helped me along this journey and I’m grateful for them.
The list:
Joshua Portales, David Parada, Ny$$e, SB-Vito, Nate, Ryan, Jerrod, Giovanni and the Hired Guns, Spike Dee, DJ Kimblee, Lance at Merkaba ent., Onfro, IJ, Zach from Skucci Skateboards, everyone at Khaotic Zen tattoo, Mason B, Briana, Ralph Barbosa, That Mexican OT, Sauce Walka, Tyla Yahweh,Mg Lil Bubba, Hogg Booma, Smerk, Patricio, Matt Franks, SuDeep, Bryar Ortiz, Drake P, all the ladies that broke my heart & all my haters that keep talking that talk. Most importantly everyone who is pushing the brand y’all the real MVP. I can list a gang more of people and what they’ve done for me but their time will come. I got y’all.
