We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Udoessien and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had the desire to be in business for myself and not have to punch a time clock with the freedom to work at my own pace and on my own time. My family is my BIGGEST motivation, hands down and I realized, in these days, having multiple streams of income is key to surviving. I knew it was going to take time to learn the ins and outs of being a realtor in a competitive market like Dallas- Fort Worth but I wanted to take my experience in Finance and sales and apply them to an industry where I would be able to provide for my family while also making a difference in people’s lives.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a STRONG believer in education!! Knowledge is POWER….Period. This is why I feel so strongly about educating home Buyers and Sellers about their roles in a Real Estate transaction. I conduct a weekly podcast on Facebook Live where I am talking about Real Estate related topics and highlight other Small Business Owners. Check it out sometime. The show is called “REALTOR-ISH”. https://www.callrealtormike.com/realtorish It definitely hasn’t been easy building the ” Call Realtor Mike” or the REALTOR-ISH brand, it takes time. I have learned to be more comfortable in front of the camera, especially since I do everything via Facebook Live. What you see in my videos is all me with no filters. I truly believe that future buyers and sellers want to be with an agent that is GENUINE, TRANSPARENT and KNOWLEDGABLE.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start with a sports game. Whether it’s watching the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium or a Mavericks game at American Airlines Center. I would also visit many of the restaurants in Uptown Dallas as well as fun places like Six Flags and Medieval Times
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many to thank. First, I want to say a special thanks to my Wife and family. My career as a realtor comes with a lot of long hours and with that it requires patience (especially when juggling 2 kids under the age of 4). My Mom and Dad have always driven the importance of having a strong work ethic and EDUCATION. My membership in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. taught me how to conduct business in a Professional manner. My previous broker, Noel Rendon and my current Broker, Tanika Donnell have a lot to do with grooming me into the Realtor and professional that I am today. Last but not least, there is no REALTOR MIKE without all the families that I have helped attain that dream of becoming Home Owners. Thank you to everyone for their continued support and motivation.
