We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikayla Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikayla, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There are several moments where I catch myself in a creative block. There are also several moments where I want to just give up. Fortunately, I have an amazing support system, who lift me up and push for me to aim for greatness! In these moments where i feel like this, the key is to never give up.
If you never give up, you can truly achieve anything.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what makes me unique is the fact that I am completely and absolutely 100% myself! I don’t mind speaking up on topics that others may be afraid to do. I don’t change who I am for people in any way. I just speak my mind sometimes with no filter.
I am my biggest enemy sometimes when it comes to creativity and content creation. Simply because I am a perfectionist and self critical. I am proud that regardless, I still continue to create.
Luckily, being a content creator means you can do almost anything! I bartend, sing, model, draw/paint, dance, game, and video edit/photography. I can apply all of these talents and show the world what I have to offer.
How did I get here? In short, I have gone through a lot in my life. I’ve always wanted to be a social media influencer and just decided to speak out on personal experiences and with that, started my path. TikTok is a platform that almost anyone can succeed in. One day I woke up and numbers were soaring! I started live-streaming on the platform and just chatting with the people supporting me. Next thing you know, a talent agency reached out and from there on my life changed!
It wasn’t exactly easy! I got a glimpse of being in the public eye and that comes with several obstacles. Having strangers knit-pick everything you do, receiving harsh comments and messages, AND people documenting your every move. It got to a point where I just wanted to give up completely because that comes with a lot of pressure. You have to watch what you say and be mindful that anything you post remains on the internet.
As much as this got to me, the strength I had to continue is what truly helped guide myself on this journey. Several lessons came from this too. The biggest lesson I learned is that no matter what you do, people are doing to judge, talk, and give opinions. If you spend your time trying to please your audience, it can be draining. Just be yourself and the people that will support you for you, will come to you. Ignore anyone who tries to bring you down.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m born and raised in California specifically in the Fresno County. I moved to Dallas, Texas almost a year ago!
If I had a friend visiting the area, I definitely would love to show them around.
For starters, FOOD! There are several food places in Dallas that I personally LOVE! Cesar’s Tacos, Y.O Ranch Steakhouse, Lockhart Smokehouse BBQ, Cheba Hut, and Yellowtail.
Second, the clubs! Going to the bars can be extremely fun (as long as you are being safe!) I recommend Club VIVO, It’ll Do Club, Green Light Social, and Silo Dallas.
Third, places to visit! Deep Ellum has an amazing night life. Downtown Dallas has the true “city life” feel to it. Cidercade is really fun if you’re into for arcades!
I think the most fun, interesting, and exciting experiences come with stepping out and socializing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m extremely proud to say my mother is my inspiration to chase my dreams. She is strong, smart, kind, giving, supportive etc. I look up to her and wish to be as strong as the woman she is. She taught me to be independent because she had to raise my siblings and I independently. That’s a different type of strength that I will always admire. I also would like to shoutout all my friends who support me and love me for who I am. Without them, I don’t think I could have taken the struggles I’ve gone through alone. I feel my support system is the true feeling of being successful.
