We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Minus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Values are internal and subjective, and mine have definitely change over time. One of my own core values is boldness, when it comes to my career, I would prefer to take risks rather than play it safe, under the right conditions.

I also value patience even though I could always use more practice there. Patience truly is a virtue. This is especially so when waiting for the fruits of your labour, there is no overnight success, just consistency and time.

Principles are quite different.

Principles are fundamental truths that are permanent, unchanging, and universal in nature. One of my own guiding principles involves neutralizing negativity. If I do this on a daily basis, it is a natural law that there will be less negativity in my life.

Another one of my core principles involves meditation. If I do this regularly, it is a natural law that I will have increased attention, focus and clarity. It helps me to regulate my emotions in business as well to make better decisions. The key point here is that if you practice principles on a regular basis, you end up improving all aspects of your life, personal and professional.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Create Serendipity is a group of companies, starting with our production firm, providing our signature process strategy + branding + technology + marketing. We believe the right ingredients can make meaningful impact on your business growth so we have designed our model around seamlessly working with our clients to turn ideas into creatives, branding and event production, the technological and creative execution of an event using sound, lighting, video, design, and more to control the atmosphere, mood, and emotion of attendees and you have a turn-key service that’s unmatched and we’re very happy to be in this unique space.

It certainly wasn’t easy to carve our way into this space, technology is still a very heavily male dominant field, but I think our consistency and knowledge has open doors for us, and I prefer to stay focus on that rather than tell myself we don’t belong here.

Lately, I don’t look at challenges as difficult or problematic, I see them as opportunities to expand, learn and even create new avenues of work and revenue. I think as our business continues to grow this has been one of the areas that I’ve had to get uncomfortably comfortable with, accepting challenges as they come, and not letting them put us in a box.

The goal of the company is to expand into a school and center for girls in technology, ICT and production. I think as creatives it’s important for us to embrace our expression at an earlier age and I would really like to be in the position to be a mentor, guide and offer a place to educate on these unique fields.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, my sisters Dr. Marilyn Minus & Dr. Indira Grimes, both equally as successful in their own professions but mainly just exemplary role models of women who possess leadership skills, amazing intelligence, forward thinking and loads of inspiration in my life on a regular basis.
