We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Hughey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor to the success of Frisco Area Moms so far is humility. I’ve found through this journey that surrounding myself with the right people and asking for help when I need it and taking breaks when I need it has been fundamental. Putting people first is essential in my opinion; there are so many wonderful people doing amazing things in our community and my overall goal is really to help highlight those people, and work together to create a supportive, inclusive, and positive community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Regional Sales Manager of North Dallas with Favor Delivery/H-E-B. I am so proud to be a part of a people first company. It excites me to be a part of other’s careers and watch them grow in their career as well as human beings. Management focused on the person is very rewarding, and often underestimated in the growth of a business.
I run Frisco Area Moms with my friend, Rachael. I love being able to connect with moms and businesses in our community and connecting the two. Being a resource to other mom’s is something I’m very passionate about, and hope to be as much support to all the mom’s out there as possible.
I am also a Podcast Host with my sisters, called – Girl, I Slept in My Makeup. Our podcast was and still is inspired by our mom. We encourage grace and compassion of yourself and all those around you on this life journey. We hope as you listen to our life stories, past and current; and listening to our amazing guests that it is shown that God Loves You!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many amazing restaurants in the North Dallas Area that it is hard to choose, but some of my favorites: Eight11, True Food, Heirloom Haul, Sabaidee Lao & Thai are a few of my regular go to’s.
I also recommend venturing out to the Celina Square for the small town feel, shopping at Willow House and grabbing lunch at the Toasted Walnut. The McKinney Square is also so fun to walk around, grab a bite to eat and shop – love the Yard!
If you are from out of town Renaissance Plano Legacy West or The Omni Frisco are both perfect destinations with plenty of restaurants and shopping around!
The Grandscape near Nebraska Furniture Mart is also a great area to visit, so many amazing restaurants and fun things to do; including an outdoor concert area and Andretti’s that includes indoor go-karting – so fun!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to credit my mom. She was and will always be my inspiration in loving people, all people. She taught me that God is love, He loved us first and so our one in only duty is to go out and love others as He did. I have gotten caught up in the hustle over and over, but losing my mom in a car accident this last year has truly woken me up to the truth. I hope my life has an ounce of the impact that my mom’s life did. She was the most giving, loving, selfless woman I knew and I hope I can make others feel the way she made me feel.
