We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTerra Wair and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaTerra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I always thought that risk our scary. There’s just something about betting everything on a feeling that you have in your chest, no matter how much evidence you have to support the decision. I believe that the entire idea of content creation as a career that I have made is the biggest risk I have taken in my life, although it was the best possible one I could have taken. I am not sure if a lot of individuals know but when you decide to pursue creative fields there are a lot of risk associated with it due to the field being so saturated. There are so many ups and downs that play into multi-media creation and that’s not even including the financial burden that taking this kind of risk can play. Although what I have learned from taking this type of risk is that you really get back what you put into things. You have to know that if you choose to bet on a risk as a career there’s a lot of time and effort that goes into it so be prepared, but they pay off is more than worth it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As I a multi-media content creator I am fortunate to be able to work on various forms of media with so many kinds of people. I work on projects such as booking mini shoot, our latest is the “Mommy & Me Mini’s” to celebrate all the beautiful mothers in the community, up to shooting small business commercials and weddings. Lately I am most proud of launching the “You’re Delusional” Podcast. Currently we are going through a small rebrand and plan to air new episodes the beginning of July 2024, and if any of this changes it will be commented on my YouTube channel, @laterrawair. Mentioning my YouTube channel, this is one of the reasons I have gotten as far as I have up currently. Taking that journey has really allowed me to constantly grow as a creator and really forces me to clock in those 10,000 hours. Doing content creation professionally now for a little over 3 years I can ensure you that doing something you love never really feels like work, however, that does not mean it is easy. It actually can be a very stressful profession when you are not ready for all your art to be judged, but that is one of the only ways you grow, you know? I have learned a long the way that in order to over come obstacles you really have to lock in and sacrifice wants for needs. There is a certain discipline that I believe comes with creative freedom and one you can achieve that you have overcome your biggest hurtle. Another lesson that I learned along the way and what I want to pass on to others is that your journey is unique to you and there is no correct speed so take your time so you can be happy with yourself at the end.
