We had the good fortune of connecting with Landon Wexler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Landon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my own business, Landon Wexler Media, because it was time to pivot away from TV and start creating for myself. I had been a local TV Reporter and Host for 4 years. – most recently at CW33 in Dallas.

As a Reporter for TV stations, I’ve had to operate as a one-man-band. On most occasions, I would operate as my own videographer, audio technician, lighting operator, editor, booker, producer and more. I decided I was best off using those skills I’ve gained over the years to create content for myself and businesses all around DFW and beyond.

Considering local TV isn’t exactly the thriving medium that it was decades ago – nor is it the future of the media business – I felt it was time to pivot.

When it comes to distributing a product I’m proud of, I wanted to meet people where they are. These days, that is via social media, online video and streaming.

What should our readers know about your business?
Landon Wexler Media creates marketing + social media content for an array of businesses around the DFW Metroplex and beyond. LWM also offers content creation, social media management and influencer relations services.
Our content is set apart by offering a high quality product at a reasonable price.

Also, as a TV-trained professional speaker, I can offer myself as an on-camera spokesman and/or for voiceovers. So we’re a full-service operation.

Getting to the point of starting LWM and operating my own business certainly didn’t come easy.
I would not be nearly as prepared as I am today to operate on my own without the countless mistakes I made and invaluable lessons I learned in my first several years working for other companies.

I’ve also be working on content for my own pages. I recently went skydiving and surfing in DFW – so I really do it all for the content! I also have a bit of a passion project of mine in the works soon – more details coming soon!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s almost difficult to narrow down all the incredible options the Metroplex has. My go-to’s when folks are visiting from out of town are Steakyard, Del Sur Tacos, Mister 01’s Pizza, Heim BBQ, JOA Korean BBQ, Surf Camp Bar, Good Surf, The Stockyards in Fort Worth, Billy Bob’s, Chicken N’ Pickle, Delucca Gaucho Pizza and several other spots I’m probably blanking on right now.
Also, the Dallas World Aquarium is a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’d be impossible to have gotten to this point without many members of my family, including my grandparents, my Dad, my close friends, mentors and the people who’ve have taught me important skills – professional and life skills – along the way.
My well-rounded education at Syracuse Univeristy’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications certainly prepared me for this moment as well.
