We had the good fortune of connecting with Laffiama-Little dog Murillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laffiama-Little dog, why did you pursue a creative career?
my main job s a roofing company i started called ii’mi’tai’kowaan construction. i just it cuz i was raised around renovation and construction its what my family does and my dad had me help him do the work, i got into the insurance restoration side and honestly is where i feel more comfortable working now. not always but now do. however that’s not my passion. i am a local actor. i started about a year ago on Bass Reeves and its just taken a whole new life on its own, i kept getting requests and invites. it’s not what i ever saw myself doing. however i love it so much. i’ve always been a story teller and now i get to be a part of the stories and i love it so much.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been in sales for a very long time. i started with selling breakfast burritos, in order to go on my trip to presidential classroom in highschool. id help to make them. then i had to sell them person to person. after they tasted them they sold themselves. but i did have to make initial contact and for a shy guy it was tough. after that i did door to door magazine sales when i was 22. talk about tough, and then i sold cars, then roofs, then insurance, then back to construction and roofs. i feel being in sales helped me a lot. gave me a thick skin to deal with rejection very well. helped me become not easily offended and be able to take constructive criticism in any form as well as improv and think on the spot. we use to do these door drills. where one person was very resistant and we would practice overcoming objections at the door. in rapid fire form. i learned to use body language and facial expressions to express emotion while story telling Sales is very much how well can you act and adjust your script person to person. sales is also listening for how to make the sale. people want to buy, they don’t want to be sold to. And construction is about trust. they have to trust you will get them approved, then i have to trust them to actually hand over the start check and deductible, followed by them trusting me to actually do the job along with doing a good job, and then i have to trust they’re gonna give me the final check after the work is completed. if they don’t trust you they won’t comply. and las to fall networking. doing things by yourself sucks, so in construction we build a network of rehabbers, insurance agents, realtors, do a good job and make us both look good and the agent will keep referring you and so with the home owner. it all translates smoothly to acting and media. making friends on set a lot of actor wear multiple hats, some are writes/ directors/ actors/ something else. and if your professional on set and know how to act as well as fun to get along with they will want to connect and be friends and have roles for you later, actors can refer you when a call comes open on a project they are working on and get you added, writer can write in a character based on you, that fits really well. making friends with the production assistants when they have time helps as well they can see you in castings and recommend you as well or let you know when roles are coming up, it’s all networking, listening to each other, and i’ve done a lot of improve while acting. at first i was pretty rusty however once i got back into it, it just kicked in like muscle memory and i feel more confident about my abilities now.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
some of that answer depends on time of the year. so many options. i’d take them to go eat at enchiladas ole they have great food and great keto selection, im unmedicated diabetic and i control it through exercise and diet, and they selections that taste great, id also take them to a game or 2 of the local sports teams like Cowboys, rangers or mavs.. if its on april, Well i play choctaw stickball with my friend Eli Hickman and every year we play at the Panther City Lacrosse return to origins games at the dickies arena. we would for sure go to that. if not april then stickball practice in Keist part in dallas on sunday. i don’t mind dallas but dallas gets crazy during the after house so id say stockyards as well a lot of history and great bars. as well as club reflections. if it’s summer hurricane harbor or hawaiian falls in mansfield and for sure gotta hit up six flags. and if no cowboys games are goin gotta visit the att stadium. and ofcourse depending on the time of year we will be hitting up a powwow.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes a few people actually. The first person who invited my wife Amy and I to start Acting Audricka Young, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have known i love it so much. to my mom as even though childhood was tough she has made a lot of advancements on her own journey and becoming a better person and is very supporting and has been there to help us most of the time. and final Shout out goes to Mary Patino Vasquez she is the Owner of the Enchiladas ole brand and restaurants. some roles starting off are unpaid till they pick up funding Mary has been a very good sponsor and has helped me out a lot financially so i can do some of these acting jobs. Final 2 i promise. Marcus Davila for including me in his film The American Coyote. and Last but not least Legacy Casting. who has been able to keep me so busy.
