Meet Lacey Salas | Beauty Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had people in my life telling me that I needed to start my own brand. Working in this industry, and having a naturally creative mindset, my peers and those I worked with who were also in leadership roles would constantly encourage me to start one. I pushed this idea down for a while because I felt that there were already so many brands in the market. I just couldn’t fathom starting a brand for the sake of notoriety. That type of motivation doesn’t drive me and that’s not how I operate.
I knew that if I was going to create a brand, there would have to be a meaning, purpose, and a clear mission of why my brand existed. At a certain point, I started experiencing shifts in my personal life that shook me to my core. Becoming a mother was a monumental shift that reignited the fire in me to move back into the salon and spa setting.
Being heavily involved with big names in the beauty industry, I witnessed firsthand that it had become a breeding ground for anxiety and distrust among consumers. I felt deep in my soul that this industry needed a rise in knowledgeable professionals who would be honest and direct with their clients. So I decided to take everything that I knew from the industry and create a high-touch experience with luxury services and branding. I knew that my experience and wisdom from being in the beauty industry for so long could move me forward to teach others how to elevate their own personal care experiences.
I finally did it. I created a brand built around my ethics, in order to bring a high-quality, luxury experience to my clients. One of my main desires is to take the guesswork out of it for everyone who walks through my door. I make sure that I only offer the best in clean, high-performance skincare and services at competitive price points, to give my clients the access they deserve to proper skincare. Everything I do is strategic. I don’t want to offer my services at a certain rate and then have an astronomical price on the products that are needed in order to keep up and maintain a healthy skincare routine. Everything I do holds my purpose and ethics in mind in order to give my clients the highest quality results. People shouldn’t have to choose between high-quality services and products – they can have both. And if potential clients are only interested in products, I’m happy to customize a home treatment plan specifically for their needs and budget. This is about helping them on their skincare journey, end of story.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There are so many different perspectives and opinions on what beauty is. It’s what makes us so similar and also so uniquely different. I, personally, see beauty as a universal language.
There is so much that influences what people consider to be beautiful. It can stem from where you came from, your culture, your family, and a number of other factors. And truly, I want to honor that. I want to honor each guest’s personal experience of beauty. As the owner and operator of Oil of Pearls, I feel that I am simply a guide on each of my guest’s own personal beauty and self-care journeys. When people walk into my space, they always say they feel at home. When they say that they had a great service experience with me this means the world, because they’re really saying they had a great time caring for themselves. I’m only the facilitator in the acts of self-care, here at Oil of Pearls. For me, It’s about helping everyone find what their personal relationship to beauty is. It’s so different for everyone.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well you’re in luck, because my best friend is actually coming to Fort Worth to visit in a couple of weeks!
I would have to say that anywhere near the Southside is where it’s at. Cherry coffee, Boulevard on the greens, Coco shrimp, Righteous foods, The Holly, Leaves tea, Hao’s grocery & cafe are just a few of the places that I can’t wait to show her once she arrives.
We will definitely be doing our shopping at Morgan Mercantile, Honeysuckle Rose Vintage, and go peruse Megan Thorne Jewelry! We’ll also definitely be going to the stockyards to see all the new developments there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost my family. My husband, my mother, my oldest brother, and my brother-in-law have been the most influential, supportive, and grounding for who I am today and where I stand both in business and in my personal life. Their love is unmatched and has created the foundation from which I draw my strength on the hard days.
The truth is, I call upon all my experiences and all the people that I’ve encountered in my life to influence and teach me how to be better in my approach towards life and my business. I’ve always known that everything that I experience is going to act as a teacher and contribute to my future vision and goals. My intention is always to move forward with joy, love, compassion, and patience. If I notice a particular path is not serving me, I do my best to move on in a way that is still building toward my vision and happiness. My goal is always to connect with others, share as much as I can with others, and truly be someone I wish I would have had at the beginning of my career – a mentor with an open door.
So I’d like to shoutout everyone that I’ve encountered on my journey. They have all played a part in who I am today. I think if we all could see our experiences and the people we encounter as teachers, we would all have a better point of view and perspective on life.
