We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey J. Salas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lacey J., how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?

I have been working in the beauty industry for 13 years. In the very beginning like most, I was seeking fulfillment to myself through achievements in a tangible form. I wanted recognition and support from others, to be great and was hoping for this major career in someway through makeup. Some would say I have had a huge success or very well established career with the many roads I traveled through; NYFW, many editorials, TV and some clients that are very well thought of as amazing clients to have. I was never fulfilled and always seemed to be seeking what was next. I worked as an educator and makeup coach for Aveda at the beginning of my career (with the company I launched the Dallas Institute in 2009) went on to be an Executive with Estée Lauder and so on. I was chasing money and material awards in some way. I had my daughter in 2019 and it truly changed my perspective of life. I wanted “real” fulfillment… a sense of happy and bliss from what I do. I knew I needed to enter back into the Salon and Spa industry. When I transitioned back it was exactly the time frame we were shutting down in 2020 the first time with Covid lockdowns. I gave up my 7 year career in a Fortune 500 company to be true to my self and also because I knew my vision for helping others in spa atmospheres from before was much more fulfilling. I said good bye to them on the 9th of May in 2020 and lock downs began on the 12th of May. Some may have began to panic but I knew it would not have changed my decision to leave and I was peaceful in that transition. I already had a position in another company as an Account Executive doing business to business selling for salons and spa. I was only delayed by a few weeks to begin. Again I started working achieving success right away and money came of course in many ways. I was still not happy and knew then I needed to create my own brand. I was clear on that so I began to do the work in December of 2020. I left the last role I would have for someone else in May of 2021. My goal and purpose for my brand is to help others find the “true meaning of self love”. It’s a passion of mine to help others in the most important way and that is through a deep purpose of self care and self love in their lives. Today I am humbling serving others through my mission and purpose and I am so grateful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Honestly I believe we all know there are trials that we face in anything we do or love and just life in general. They have all been great teachers to me in my career. I was an over achiever, needing to be perfect at things and really over extending myself. I have used each path in my past to prepare me for what this new future looks like for me. My brand just like all other things that I have done throughout my career was born in March of 2021 through the ability to listen and know what I really needed. It was about trusting myself to do for me what I have done for all these other business’ and brands throughout my career. Running a successful business started different in this one, which I am proud to say. The beginning of this brand has been about the vision, fulfillment first and aligning the right intentions with purpose before worrying about the money aspect. My business and brand is a new kind of beauty experience. I do many different forms and practices in my beauty studio on S. Main in Fort Worth. I am holistically trained in wellness practices. I utilize advanced modalities and cutting edge treatments. I am also an Esthetician who has had an Editorial Freelance makeup career so I can do full service beauty. I am currently also being trained though an extensive course in a practice called Aura-Soma from the UK. I will be one of very few practitioners in the country, coming soon!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Well I love food and arts! I would definitely have them experience my hometown of Fort Worth by getting some amazing coffee from Avoca, Summer Moon and Roots are some of the favorites along the list. Take a walk next to the Trinity River. Eat some breakfast at Righteous or Snooze Am Eatery. Got to the Modern art museum and other around the area. Shop at some favorite stores like Esther Penn or Honey Suckle Rose Vintage. Have some afternoon food at really any local place (we have amazing food here!) Enjoy all of the food and beverages up and down the Main st area two recent favorites are Black Cat Pizza and Wishbone and Flynt. Any of the local breweries in the evening or Wine bars are always enjoyable and of course you could do something fun like a drive in movie or just a more subtle evening with friends at home. I could have list a mile long but thought I would keep it to a few and most recent ones. I hope you enjoy any and all! Also for an amazing follow @panthercitypalate has an amazing food and beverage guide of our city. He is a long time friend of mine!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would have to say I have received so many incredible mentors through my work. I am truly thankful from the bottom of my heart to each one of them. Thank you to my family and especially my husband Daniel Salas. He has walked with me in so many ways in different points and aspects of my career. He has inspired me and just been there at the most difficult moments. When he had the courage to become a business owner for his self, I was able to have the belief I could do it for myself as well. Excited for all that is next!
