We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey McCrea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t honestly think doing photography would turn into a successful business. I started doing it as just a hobby when I was 16 years old. I started posting pictures on Instagram and Facebook for fun, and then I had people asking how they can book a session with me. As I started doing those sessions I realized I had a love for making beautiful pictures for my clients. The messages I get after they see their final images always warms my heart. I am now 18 years old running a full-time photography business and love the images I am creating.

What should our readers know about your business?
Something that sets my work apart from others is that I am young and have new and interesting views on photography. The thing I am most excited about is that I will be opening my own studio in September of 2022. I have worked so hard to accomplish this and I am excited to see all of the art I create in this studio. I got where I am today because I have worked countless hours on perfecting my editing style and have marketed on so many social media sites. I wouldn’t say getting where I am today was easy, it took a lot of praying and staying up long nights to get where I am.

Some lessons that I have learned along the way of my photography career, is to not judge my work based off of other photographers, I have learned to love my individual style, and that other people love my style and want me to be their photographer. I want the world to know that for me photography is not just a job it’s a passion. I believe photography is about creating beautiful memories that people can cherish forever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Cleburne and we are a pretty small town, but we also have some pretty neat places to go to. We would start in downtown and go to lunch at the best little burger place called “Burger Bar”. Then we would go on a little shopping spree to a boutique called J. Raes which is also downtown. If it’s baseball season we would definitely go see a game at the Cleburne Railroaders Depot. Then have an amazing dinner at Fly By Night Steak House.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a lot of credit out to my parents. They bought me my first camera which was a Canon M50. I did all of my photography sessions with that little camera. After a while I started making enough money and I bought a new camera. My mom plays a big role in my business. She will help me set up mini sessions, and she will go to long shoot with me. One time I needed a second shooter for a wedding and she was there and did all she could to help. My dad also has helped a lot with making things and letting me use his antique cars for my shoots.

I would also like to give a huge shoutout to all of my clients. They are what got me started in this photography business, and I could not thank them enough. If it weren’t for my first clients asking if I could take their pictures, I probably wouldn’t be running this successful business.
