We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Sheffey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I had always wanted to start a blog and in 2017 I decided to take the plunge! I have always loved fashion and studied Fashion Merchandising at Texas Christian University. I wasn’t working in fashion at the time and wanted to have an outlet to share my style and creativity. I also have had a variety of nicknames with “Byrd” and wanted to incorporate it into my blog for a more personal touch.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After starting my blog, I was able to discover what avenues I enjoyed pursuing most and sharing with my followers. It grew from fashion and versatile styling tips to travel, brands that give back to the community, and incorporating my Miron Crosby cowboy boots into my wardrobe from my day job. I like to style a lot of my outfits with my 10+ pairs of Miron Crosby boots to show a different sense of style versus the typical fashion blogger. As Director of Digital Media for the Miron Crosby, I also wanted to incorporate my boots into my everyday style for my followers to fall in love with and spread brand awareness.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
This is tough because there are so many fun things to do in Dallas! I would first like to start our mornings with an intense workout at Sculpt House or a walk on Katy Trail with a quick coffee or tea from Eatzi’s. Hit up Juice Bar for breakfast for their delicious Mango Mama (my favorite) and Empire Bakery for their delicious banana bread or pastries. For lunch, I would love to take my friends to Neiman’s Mermaid Bar, Bird Bakery, Dive, or Honor Bar for a delicious salad and some patio time if the weather is nice. During the day, we could walk around and shop in Highland Park Village, Northpark, or visit the design district for some much-needed inspo! On the days we are around Highland Park Village, we would have to stop in Miron Crosby for their famous ranch water and custom design meeting to build their very own cowboy boots! After we build our very own custom boots, we would then go to Cafe Pacific (a Dallas staple and another favorite of mine) for dinner and celebratory cocktails! When we aren’t shopping, I would love to take my friends to the Perot Museum for a fun afternoon and The Arboretum to see the beautiful flowers (and summer concert if playing) ending the night at a delicious dinner at Here. Lastly, we would have to squeeze in a spa day and would have to take them the Joule to see the beautiful hotel and spa and relax!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My now husband for letting me borrow his camera when we were dating to let me take photos for my blog! Now that we are married he takes all of my photos for my blog and couldn’t do it without him!
