We had the good fortune of connecting with Kirschen TeX Wolford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kirschen TeX, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The reason I pursue an artistic or creative career is because it’s where I find true freedom. Whenever I would try to do anything else it would always lead me back to the arts. These gifts were passed down to me and it’s my duty to use them and share them with the world

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m Kirschen ‘TeX’ Wolford and I’m a multi-hyphenated artist. I was born and raised in Dallas and attended Booker T. Washington HSPVA for theatre. From there, I graduated and went to a college in Philadelphia called the University of the Arts where I received my B.F.A. in Acting. I believe wholeheartedly this is when my entire artistry shifted for me. Before I moved, I was a one-dimensional artist but my time on the east coast made me more dynamic. I’ve performed on a national children’s theatre tour and in mainstage plays at the Wilma Theater and Interact Theater in center city Philadelphia. Throughout my journey, I’ve also acted in independent films as well as sound scored and composed music for original plays and films in Dallas and Philadelphia receiving a Barrymore award for best original music. My career slowed down after losing my sister to kidney failure but after the pandemic I rebranded and received purpose even bigger than before. Today in 2025, I run my own brand, perform live shows, host workshops, a grant recipient, and a teaching artist with the Martin Luther King Arts Academy and the Cistercian Preparatory School. I’m an epileptic artist who does a lot of genre blending. I’ve been blending stand up comedy with live music currently which is bringing a different type of community together. Lastly, to all the kids with a dream, anything is possible !!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When visiting Dallas you definitely want to stop in the design district to check out some authentic art pieces, home decor, or fashion. From there, I would visit bishop arts district for original cuisine. This area has more home style restaurants. We have the State Fair of Texas right across the street from the South Dallas Cultural Center. If we want to explore downtown, we have Deep Ellum of course for live music at Freeman Cafe. If you still want to lounge around or have some drinks to end the night after hours, the Xsheesha Lounge in North Dallas is a nice hookah bar that’s B.Y.O.B. There’s always a good time to be had when visiting Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate a huge part of my current success to the non profit organization titled Pegasus Media Project. Their resources and network have allowed me to access equipment over the past four years that brings my art to new heights. Through this organization my creative career has entered a new season.
