We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance has always been something that challenged me because of my driven and focused nature. I am easily centered on one idea and motivated to see it executed fully. Once I developed a family, I recognized the ebbs and flows of the hats I must wear and the quality of attention each requires.
Initially I found myself wrestling with what seemed to be a uselessness of my intellect because I no longer worked in a corporate job while my first child developed through her elementary age. I was the PTA mom, field trip mom and community caretaker. I felt stuck and almost faced depression as I had a vision of my professional self wasting away. My why had evolved and my fixed mentality hadn’t realized that it would take a different output to render the results I knew I was capable of.
I began to study problems that I naturally solve, in the workforce, education system, and around the community. Each problem revolved around emotional intelligence as it’s anchor toward solution. I had to get out of my feelings and logic.
It took me recognizing that my capacity thrives in multi facet expressions. Meaning, I am an artist and a science enthusiast, and if I want to be successful my resolve is combining them intrinsically. It will be messy at the beginning but with any masterpiece its beautifully shaping the vision along the process: trust the process. I think the balance requires us to trust that the weight may cause a tilt in one direction or another momentarily, however, it will not break us.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the Founder of Perspective 360 an emotional intelligence firm. We specialize in training leaders and people of great authority to communicate effectively across diverse teams, through difficult resolutions and individually take ownership of their personal integrity while doing so. We build character with the pillars of emotional intelligence.
We evolved from a standpoint of disgruntled employees, toxic workplaces and ineffective new-hire training classes across industries, we recognized that emotional intelligence was the thread that weaved together the fabrics of a healthy business and customer experience. This wasn’t an easy task, E.I. was new when we started, I was always told I had an old soul, based on my resolve and approach to common challenges, the truth was altogether different: I am apart of the 5% world population that naturally has Emotional Intelligence.
Gaining the necessary credentials and building relationships while highlighting E.I was instrumental in establishing the difference maker we are as a business. Along the way I’ve learned to use my life experiences as tangible examples and my resolve as practical tools to instruct others to navigate these very vital areas of any business. In my business I am living out my life’s purpose. I chose the path that resolved the conflicts that troubled me in the community, my home and in the workforce.
Disparities that trouble you are yours to bring solutions to. Use your emotional intelligence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are definitely planning a Texas Legends game in the itinerary. Must haves for food are in Addison, Frisco or Uptown Dallas. We have to see the view from Tower Club Dallas 48th floor. There are some really awesome Yemen coffee spots in Richardson with the best treats. For a full day of culture and art: Deep Ellum is the place to bo!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My entire family motivate me to thrive beyond the esteem I have, they champion my greatness and in their own ways encourage me to continue to press forward.
