We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly DeShields-Spencer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
One day, I got a call from a client who I had sent a card and a small token of thanks for them choosing to work with me that year.  The client was so grateful for what I sent and shared that they are not used to people taking the time to write a thank you card and send a token of appreciation.  I found that to be sad. So, I decided to ask an array of clients, colleagues, and friends how they pour into others and many shared they text, call or send something via mail. But often, they shared that time sometimes gets in the way of remembering to do those gestures.

That got me to thinking that I would love to create an avenue where it is easy to send something to say hello, thank you, I’m sorry, congratulations, etc.  Since I love the concept of sowing and reaping. I am a huge believer in pouring into others whether that is through a kind word, written note, acknowledging something they are going through, celebrating with and for them, or whatever the situation may be. When you pour into someone it adds value to them, Therefore, I wanted to create a business where it was easy to sow into the lives of those around you. That is why we created Sow.Reap.Harvest. Sow Reap Harvest is a bi-monthly subscription service that believes one “Thank You” goes a long way.  We have our bi-monthly option for those who like an ongoing service, and we offer specialty boxes. Additionally, we create Cultivate which is our monthly t shirt line under SRH.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
If pouring into others is your jam, you will love Sow.Reap.Harvest.  As I shared Sow.Reap.Harvest. is a bi-monthly subscription service that believes pouring into others goes a long way.  Our core mission is to make it easy to sow into others. We have our bi-monthly option for those who like an ongoing service, and we offer specialty boxes. Additionally, we created Cultivate which is our monthly t shirt line under SRH.

We have worked with businesses, organizations, and people from all walks of life who love to pour into others. I love that I get to do this each day. Our boxes are fun, thoughtful, caring, and exciting (this is what we hear from our customers). Sow Reap Harvest is a bi-monthly subscription service that believes your mom was right when she said that one “Thank You” goes a long way. We curate items such as: cards, gifts, journals, books, shareable items, spa items, and plenty more that you can use to invest in the lives around you.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Charles. Hands down one of the best blessings that God could have ever given to me. He would be the first one to say he does not deserve any credit, but I would beg to differ. When you have a partner that loves you, supports you, encourages you, helps you see your blind spots, cooks dinner when I am tired, is a listening ear, actively helps with our kids, gives me room to grow – you can’t help but give them credit. I own 3 strong businesses and I could never run them in the way that I love to do if I didn’t have a supportive partner.  He is always there to hear my ideas, offer suggestions, he rolls up his sleeves and helps me when I need it, and I can go on and on. I am so thankful for my husband Charles for being the wonderful man he is.
