We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community because I started this business due to the lack of attention that mothers get when it comes to their postpartum recovery. I make postpartum care kits to fit the needs of every mother and her birth experience. I ship these kits directly to their front door; how much more convenient can it get! My goal is to take away the hassle of them going out and getting what they need along with what was suggested to them. They already have a lot on their plate with a newborn, so I feel like I am helping them from a far.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Nursing Student, and this has been a journey of many wrong turns, detours and much more, but I am determined to finish what I started.

The best way that I have overcome the challenges that come with being a student is just learning from my mistakes. I have had to retake a few classes to help better my grades. Yes, I get down about it when I have to do this, but I learn from the last time. I will look into improving study habits, getting a better understanding of the subject, finding a balance between work, school & my personal time. I just have to regroup and come up with a plan and execute it to the best of my ability.

I am currently a postpartum care tech at a local hospital which allows me to work very close with nurses both new and seasoned. I love this because I can pick their brains for insight and understanding on what I am signing myself up for. I want it all the bad & good. I even learn from them as well. This helps me try to answer questions along the lines of determining what area of nursing best fits me and what all can I bring to the world of nursing.

When it comes to what I want the world to know about me, I want them to know that I am a very passionate person. With that being said they can expect nothing but the best version of me with any and everything that I do. Therefore, they can expect that with my business as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to come into town to visit the following spots are a must (I live in Austin, Texas btw).

“The Domain” is a must due to it’s like an outdoor shopping center with something for everyone. My favorite places at “The Domain” are Bath & Body Works, Dogwood (a bar), Valencia’s Tex-Mex Garage (restaurant) & The Yard (restaurant). They are amazing and I find myself going to them a lot.

“The Oasis on Lake Travis” is in a small town that sits on a hill I believe but, this area is the best place to watch the sunset. It has restaurants and stores to shop at as well. I have only been here just for the sunset. The sun sets over Lake Travis.

6th street is good for bar hopping. You do have to pay for parking, I pay around $15 depending on which lot I park in. I say if your goal is to hit every bar get there around 8pm, there are no lines, and you can get in and out of them pretty quickly. This a great area to do uber/lyft if you’re in need of some money while in town.

I am still exploring Austin myself so for now this is all I got.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout everyone that has just been there from the start of it all until now! That’s anyone who just heard what I do and simply passed that information along to you guys (voyagedallas) for giving me a spotlight not once but now twice to help spread the word of my business. My family and friends for their words of encouragement, ideas, love & most importantly their support! Big Shoutout to you all! I really appreciate more than you know.
