Spoiler Alert! The story of A Sprinkle of Sunshine is my calling to bring some light and hope into the world by spreading “A Sprinkle of Sunshine” through noshing on some beautifully hand-crafted, delectable desserts.

Sshhhh! Don’t tell anyone but the thought process behind my business really wasn’t even about desserts at all.

I’ve always been a creative at heart but even more so, I’m naturally a very positive person with strong faith in God who loves to inspire and to motivate those around me.

So have you ever had that feeling that you’re technically thriving in your life, checking those boxes, staying totally busy doing all the things and still managing to rock it; but inside, you feel like there’s a piece of you missing? Like your light dimmed a little at some point and you don’t know how or why? Not that you’re unhappy or ungrateful for all the blessings in your current situation but maybe like you missed your calling somehow. That’s the restless “purpose” feeling that was tugging at me years ago. Mind you, I have an amazing husband that I’ve had the honor of doing life with for almost half my life, the best daughter I could have ever asked for, a technical “remote” job that I do well and still enjoy; but, when all the busyness of routine calmed down at the end of the day, I felt like I wasn’t as joy-filled as I once was. I thought maybe it was because I didn’t have time for my creative expression outlets anymore. So my initial thought was to flex my creative muscles through photography. I mean how incredibly special is it to be able to freeze a moment in time that becomes a priceless treasure through someone’s eyes?! Unfortunately, along with all that busyness of doing all the things, my schedule didn’t exactly mesh well with that photog life. Fast forward a couple years, the world was neck-deep in the aftermath of the pandemic. My family, like so many others, was hit directly when my Dad (aka “Bob”) struggled for his last breath before going to heaven. Remember that restless feeling I had before?! Well, in the midst of my dark looming storm of mourning, my soul was screaming for healing and light and joy even more. It was October 2021, and it hit me that I needed to do something BIG, that was for me, that was my own, that would spark that fire up back inside of me. I knew I wasn’t the only who needed some hope back in their life!  That was the moment that I realized baking had been a constant in my life. My love for baking started as a kid. I remember my signature dessert was a pineapple cake with a whipped cream frosting and just a pinch of cinnamon that I loved to make for my parents!  I loved combing through all of Mom’s cookbooks looking for my next dessert project. I wasn’t much of a cook in my younger years, but baking sweets was my jam. Then as an adult, my signature dessert was a lil more sophisticated – a boozy pecan pie made with Whiskey. (That was Dad’s favorite so much that I named my Bright&Boozy pecan pie cake ball after him – The BOB.)  If you know me personally, I’ve probably baked a lil something something at some point!  It’s my outward expression of telling someone they’re special to me.  So, once I knew my WHAT and my WHY, I needed to take action! As a birthday gift to myself, I decided to start a baking business. It could not have been more Divinely placed in my lap! I mean, I‘ve always loved me some baking, photography (obvi), event planning, crafts, design, even bartending once upon a time.  I’m now able to incorporate all of my previous skills and empower others all in the comfort of my very own home! I had already been working from home full-time for years, so this seamlessly fit into all of my busyness.
