We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Clarke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are a part of every day life. You can choose to play it safe, but I’ve always believed life is meant to be lived. As long your risks are calculated then you should bet on yourself every single time and take the risks.

I was born in Kingston, Jamaica and my family emigrated to Atlanta, Georgia in the mid ‘90s with a hope to “make it” in America. No concrete plans on how, just hope and a calculated decision. I’ve incorporated that into my everyday life. From living in 7 major cities, pursuing a career as a pharmacist, to now purchasing a boat and starting a yacht chartering company called “Noire Waters”. This new journey with Noire Waters is the best risk I’ve made to date, a risk that allows me to connect with people, make memories, and hopefully inspire them to take those risks that get them excited.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a proud graduate of Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) College of Pharmacy. I current work as a pharmacist in the pharmaceutical industry working in rare diseases.

Prior to FAMU, I received my bachelor’s in Chemistry from Georgia Southern University. I enjoyed science and math in high school so a job as a pharmacist was the best choice for me. It took almost 11 years of school to get here along with long nights and studying, but I wouldn’t of chose another career.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m usually back a forth between Atlanta, Washington DC, and Boston. My recommendations would be:

Atlanta -Red Hills Jerk Center (Stone Mountain). The Best jerk chicken!

Washington DC -U Street, best place to bar hop

Boston -Newbury Street, best place for shopping

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly appreciate my girlfriend Ashley and my parents and sisters for always being a solid support system in my endeavors.
