We had the good fortune of connecting with James Bunton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing about my industry that outsiders are probably unaware of, is that I’m not only interested in growing the students that I work with educationally, but spiritually, as well. Speaking affirmations over my life, the lives of my clients (from the babies to the adults), and my industry is why the outcomes of my industry is a success. As my parents used to tell me all of my life, “Son, in everything that you do, do it with a pure heart and good intentions and watch how God will return His blessings back to you.”

Potential clients always ask when they first inquire about signing their child(ren) or either themselves up, “What makes your industry different from what someone else’s?” I always tell them, “You have to enroll into my program and see what all of the talk is about.” That leaves them in such a suspense to the point where the excitement is felt through the phone when I’m giving them their orientation. All I can say is, it’s just magical moment in time when we are together learning at a level where students and/or parents come in thinking that their child won’t be able to do it, and within the very first session, they get to see for themselves the instant growth and confidence level of each learner change right before their very own eyes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The things that set Mathcademy Tutorial Services a part from everyone else is what I bring to the industry to get every client go from hating math to liking/loving it. The personality that I bring to each client or client is personalized to fit them. You get so much within the 30 minutes or full hour with me than what you would probably ever receive anywhere else. Yes, it is a very demanding program on both the parent(s) and student(s) end, but it all worth while in the end when I get to see them grow in confidence, mathematical practices, and advanced level math. I have had a lot of severely struggling clients and now I see them soaring so high in math now to the point they get to become, as I call it, “exited out of the program.” I’m blessed to see it all happen daily and it never gets tiring.

I’m most proud of the clients that I get to serve and the relationships that I get to form with each family. I’m very grateful for it all. Some life lessons that I’ve learned along the way is that not everyone is going to support you or be happy for you. Guess what? It’s ok. Just take what you go and trust the process, God will provide the rest. I want the world to know that if God is not through with you, He will not let you leave this Earth without whatever it is that He has for you to do is fulfill. Regardless your downfalls, shortcomings, or failures, He can/will still use you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting town, I would definitely make sure that we to Six Flags, if you’re friends with me, you will have to love theme parks. Lol. I would allow my best friend to see what our city has to offer such the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Cloud 9 Cafe inside of the Reunion Tower, Seasons 52, and enjoy nightly social gatherings in the Deep Ellum area, especially Punch Bowl Social Dallas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to God for blessing me with such an amazing business and my parents, the late Charles E. Bunton, Sr. and Mary A. Bunton, who’ve both blessed me a pure and giving heart, as well as an humble spirit of always wanting to help people. I also want to give a shoutout to everyone who have helped and supported me throughout this process in any shape, form, or fashion. Also, I want to give a BIG shoutout to St. Paul Baptist Church (Pastor Lelious A. Johnson), Life of God International Church (Pastor P.D. Giles), Total Restoration Ministries (Dr. Sheila Bunton), and Life Restoration Church, Inc. (Pastor RD McLymore) for being my spiritual support and encouraging me day in and day out.
