We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Bowden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
With all my years of varied hospitality experience I felt that I could use all my skills in this one perfect setting as a Bed and Breakfast owner. I adore meeting people from all over,, sharing my home cooking, hosptality, and making them feel right at home in Fort Worth!

What should our readers know about your business?
Every Bed and Breakfast is a unique vacation destination. Our BnB is also our home. We have lived in the neighborhood 20 years and have seen such immense changes and shared great memories of change and growth. Starting a new business is never easy but I will say, it took us a good year to get he house ready for guests, complete the application and hearing process, and then work through the inspection process with the City. Fort Worth had not had many new BnB’s so it was very interesting to determine the next steps in the process. We asked TONS of questions and spoke with other area BnB owners and used the knowledge of the Texas Bed and Breakfast Association to continue our on going education. I have definitely learned that one needs patience and fortitude to work through everything that may come their way while opening a small business. Our story is about my child hood dream becoming a reality and if I can do this, anyone can withi enough energy and enthusiasm as one can muster.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fort Worth has so much to offer, as the city of “Cowboys and Culture” we would have to begin with a tour of the populat areas to see and visit. I would recommend a driving tour of Downtown Fort Worth, the Stockyards, West 7th, Clear Fork, and return to our Near Southside. Then it’s time to take in each destination. I would recommend a day in the Stockyards, BBQ, The Herd, The John Wayne Exhibit, and a retun at night to the Rodeo and Billy Bob’s for some live music..
should include Culture. A visit to the Amon Carter, the Kimbell, the Modern and a picnic in the Botanic Gardens (do not miss the Japanes Gardens).
Food and Fabulous fun, shops at Clear Fork for Brunch and shopping. Check out for lunch on Magnolia then check out the Fort Worth ZOO. Then Dinner off South Main. There are so many fabulous dining and drink options.
If time allows, I would take a stroll in the evening/dark hours to the Water Gardens. So relazxing.

There is much more to do but those are my favorites!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
if it wasn;t for my amazing neighbors and neighborhood, the Fairmount Historic District I would not be able to live my dream as a BnB owner. It’s not just one person, it’s the entire community.
