We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelcee Harwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelcee, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to keep creating and to keep my career as something that I don’t deem as a job but something that I continuously enjoy each day and that I am lucky enough to make a living out of it. If it so happens that I get to publish work for Rolling Stone, go on tour with Taylor Swift or even travel the world for National Geographic then that is just icing on the cake. I have aspirations, but my end goal is simple, just to keep pursuing photography. Creating lifelong relationships that have blossomed through my creative talents.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A constant in the creative world is trying to set yourself apart. It is tough being a female photographer, I am proud of what I accomplished towards the end of 2019. I got to photograph Garth Brooks, George Strait, Miranda Lambert and go on tour with Bret Michaels where I also got to photograph Night Ranger, Joe Nichols, Joe Diffie and Lita Ford. I also am proud to say that I am the House Photographer for Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Tx. That in itself is a huge win for my professional carer. It has not been a walk in the park; receiving a no as an answer is not fun to face, but not receiving an answer at all is tough. The way I used to face these challenges was to ask myself the question “why not me”? Then as I have grown up I just say wittingly; “their loss, not mine”, and move on to my next shoot. There have been some good lessons learned, one big one for me has been the art of following up with a potential big client. I want the world to know that I embrace all challenges and love friendly competition for it makes me a better photographer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a great question: Sunday afternoon we would begin our adventure in the Stockyards and go listen to some live music and eat at Love Shack. Monday we would go to the Coyote Drive-In and see a movie. Tuesday morning we would go to the Fort Worth Zoo then snag lunch at Rogers Round House. Wednesday morning we would go to the Montgomery Antique Store then we must go get dinner at Heim BBQ. Thursday morning we would eat breakfast at Snooze Eatery then head to the Kimbal Art Museum. Friday night we would go to the Basement bar in the Stockyards then attend a a concert at Billybobs. Finally, Saturday night we would go back to the Stockyards and stay out late dancing at Cadillacs Cantina.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I really hope this doesn’t sound cliché, but my family deserves this shoutout. I would not be where I am without their love and support. With the type of field that I decided to pursue it is not the easiest to get started on your own. Their constant motivation, the endless sharing of my work and their overall support fills me with joy. Chloe Glass deserves some love as well, she has always been a top 5 fan follower. She is always supporting my work and is the best hype girl and friend. Sincerely, to anyone who has shared my name/work on any platform, thank you.
