We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Enright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, what do you attribute your success to?
I think just being someone people want to work with has been a wildly successful tactic for me. And being versatile. As a hospitality photographer, a lot of my clients are either marketing & PR professionals or small business owners, and those are some stressed-out groups of people who work with extremely last-minute deadlines and turnaround times; meaning that I also work in these conditions. And I love it. I love the chaos that is the hospitality industry and I think loving what I do, engaging with all staff to go through each detail, and meeting crazy talented chefs and mixologists and individuals who are so passionate about what they do, and visiting new cities and markets makes me excited to be at work and that shows. My clients aren’t just the brands I’m working for, it’s also about the people. Fostering relationships with the people who employ you is so important; I work in a high-turnover market, so making a lasting impression with one person can get you hired at multiple agencies. Network with everyone and everywhere because it is a small world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I get to meet really great and passionate people and I learn so much about food and drink and I love that so much. It really is the best to work with other creative individuals to help bring their creations to light. I love my work and I just want to continue meeting cool people and going to cool places.

Be kind to everyone you work with, don’t burn bridges and network as much as you can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m an active person so I love our trails here. We’d start with coffee and brekky at Ascension Coffee in White Rock, then go walk it off along the lake and visit the Dallas Arboretum. Head to bishop arts for walking and shopping, always stopping into Photographique, Wild Detectives, & Reveler’s Hall.

I love our museums and think everyone should visit the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Perot Museum

Our bar and cocktail scene is amazing so I have a lot of great recs for both dive and not-so-dive bars

There’s always some chef-curated dinner somewhere happening in the city and you should always try to experience them because we have a lot of incredibly talented chefs in DFW.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A shoutout to this entire community- food is everywhere and it’s such a broad form of photography, so I love to continue meeting other creatives who are passionate about their craft. And referrals go a long way, and I love sending them.
