We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Blackwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was in high school I have loved fashion and doing photoshoots for fun with friends. In college I continued this passion majoring in Fashion Merchandising and started a blog with a fellow classmate and friend. Graduation brought a new 9-5 job and adjusting to a new post grad life so our blog came to an end. Being in my new role in a corporate office, I lost the spark and fun of creating that I used to have. I knew it was time to throw my hat back in the blogging ring and I am so glad I did! From Red to Toe is my outlet to express myself, share my love for fashion with my followers and keep me inspired each day!Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my blog From Red to Toe 3 years ago this June. I cover fashion, beauty and home decor! I will never forget my first paid collaboration and how exciting it was when I got the email from the brand. I think there is a perception that blogging is easy, and sure it is much easier than brain surgery no doubt! It however takes a lot of time and effort to find an audience in an over saturated market. There are so many amazing bloggers doing the same thing you do each day so to have a major brand notice me and love my content was the biggest achievement I had made. My blog was born from my love of the color red. Ever since I was a little kid I had this connection to red that continued as I grew up. Throwing on a red lip or a red dress makes me feel most confident so I knew my blog needed to encompass this feeling. My goal is to help people identify their power color and live their most confident life!Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many amazing places to visit in DFW. Growing up here I have had the privilege to adventure all around and see some pretty awesome things! In Dallas I really love the Bishop Arts District. So many cool places to shop eat, and of course some amazing murals as well! My favorite restaurant is the Dallas Grilled Cheese co, so yummy! Growing up in Grapevine, A must visit is Main Street in Grapevine with the cutest shops and not to mention wine bars! A new food hall just opened last weekend that I am dying to try! Heading to Fort Worth my favorite areas are Sundance Square and the Stockyards. If you want some authentic Texas vibes the Stockyards are the place to go. You have to check out Billy Bobs and of course the iconic Joe T Garcias for their killer food and Margs! To round it out, there are some amazing museums in both Dallas and Fort Worth for art lovers, and of course Ballpark in Arlington and Dallas Cowboy’s stadium for the sports lovers!Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so thankful to have family & friends that have supported me in my blogging career. Whether helping me take a quick picture or letting me bounce ideas off of them. I can especially thank my two co workers turned friends Kaitlyn and Megan, who pushed me to take the leap and start From Red to Toe one day talking at work. Megan offered to take my photos and continues to do so today. To have people in your corner keeps you from giving up or calling quits and I owe them the world for that!
