We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Christopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, how do you think about risk?
Anytime I feel myself at that familiar crossroads; one side sunny and vibrant with lush vegetation, and a fully paved softened path, the other side drastically darker, no clear direction to walk, and a rundown sign stating “DANGER”, I’m inherently drawn closer to the unexplored. Risks are the mirage-like lighthouses that beckon us to do something new, to be different and stand out and against whats expected. I firmly believe the majority of masterpieces are executed by the shaky hand of someone that knew they were onto something unknown and profound. For that reason alone I think I’ll always be drawn to take risks. My fans have come to expect different and the unusual from me, and I can only deliver that if I’m pushing the envelope and getting past the initial fear of standing out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to say I’m a hidden gem, and I kn0w how cliché that may sound, but I think my music and visual aesthetic reflects that “oh this is some profound shit” quality that can be extremely elusive. I’m most proud of my consistency and where clocking in to something that I may be the sole believer of has gotten me. I want the world to know that you don’t have to settle for less and that Justin Christopher will always deliver straight from the heart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here’s my ideal day in the DFW. Let’s say its a Monday. Oh, and lets not take exhaustion or traffic into account for obvious reasons.

10 AM – Wake up and hit Casa Del Vegano for breakfast/ brunch

12 PM – Take a relaxing walk/hike at the Cedar Hill State Park

3PM – Nap under the shade of a cherry blossom in the Japanese Garden at the Fort Worth Botanical

5PM – Grab something to eat at Spirals Diner

7 PM – Quiet time. maybe read a book.

7:45 PM – Watch the sunset.

9 PM – Catch some live music at magnolia motor lounge.

11 PM – Stumble back to deep ellum and hit Ruins just for the atmosphere.

Midnight – Be spontaneous.

2 AM – Catch a spark of inspiration from your spontaneity and create something. All the best shit is made After 1 AM, and this is a fact.

3 AM Fall into the gentle hands of rest

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout Clint Kirby and Ryan Tharp, the wonderful minds and musicians based out of Fort Worth. They deserve a lot of recognition for what they bring to the music scene out there.
