We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Pablo Ocampo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan Pablo, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a kid, I felt the need to tell stories and create environments, either drawing or playing with my toys. As I grew I realized I was good at dancing, loved to sing and act, and design and video was a passion of mine too. So I became a digital artist by degree, but I practice a lot of disciplines.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I do a little bit of everything. I like music production so i do some remixes and covers. I do video for companies but for music artists too, in the form of lyric videos, dance or music videos. I’m an animator so I do 2D clips sometimes. I also so photography, I love using interesting lighting and I also dance, mainly burlesque, heels and sexy chair. I’m excited to start doing short films and some plans I had a little bit on hold because I was committed to my job, but I chose to quit and start freelancing and doing it on my own.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the park by the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and also the gay area is full of cool bars and places to check out! Round Up Saloon is something else!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take my friend Ricardo for giving me several opportunities and we created a great agency that’s one of the biggest and most important now on the city. Also my parents, I could not have been given a better education. And all of the people that support me and have carried me through tough times.
