We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Octavien and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Spirit of Iteru was inspired by my journey toward personal growth and healing. I wanted to create a boutique where people could find jewelry and tools crafted with intention, supporting empowerment, creativity, and joy. Each piece is designed to be both beautiful and purposeful, helping people connect with their intentions and inspire positive change.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Spirit of Iteru is a metaphysical boutique specializing in custom intentional jewelry and holistic tools designed to empower, heal, and inspire joy. What sets us apart is the care and intention behind each piece—I pour my heart into creating items that resonate with people’s journeys. Getting here wasn’t always easy; I faced challenges in building a business from scratch, but perseverance and my passion for helping others kept me going. I’ve learned the importance of authenticity and patience along the way, and I want the world to know that Spirit of Iteru is here to uplift and support their unique paths.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d start by taking them to the Frisco Farmer’s Market over the weekend to explore local vendors and fresh finds. We’d definitely have a meal at Queen of Sheba in Addison to enjoy authentic Ethiopian flavors—one of my favorites! For shopping, Legacy West is a must; it has everything from unique boutiques to high-end stores. To wrap up the day, we’d grab dessert and coffee at Arwa Yemeni Coffee in Frisco. It’d be a week of great food, shopping, and local gems that show off the best of what the area has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my aunt, Phyllis Summers, owner of Kimoni’s Healing Vybez. Her wisdom and guidance sparked my spiritual awakening and encouraged me to explore my inner journey, which ultimately led to creating Spirit of Iteru. She truly deserves recognition for being the spark that lit this path for me..
