We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin (MIN) Ramlal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmin (MIN), how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
The work I’ve chosen aligns with my interests, so its easy to blur the line between what I consider free time and business. It’s time for a break when I notice myself getting more irritable or emotional as I’m doing the thing I love. At that point it’s best to take a step back and watch a show or pet the dog for a bit and see how I feel afterwards. I think it’s so important to allow yourself to enjoy your work but not overwhelm yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a people pleaser so I’ve struggled with describing my sound for so long. I frequently get compared to artists that I admire but don’t feel like pinpoint what I’m going for. Over the past couple of months I’ve worried less about how to explain myself to others and focused more on creating what I enjoy no matter what the label is. We’ll see how that works out for me! I’m currently in the studio working on my debut album and it’s already exceeded all expectations for what I wanted the world to hear from MIN so stay tuned in!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s so hard to think about that in the era we live in! I think I would grab a bunch of pillows and blankets from home. We would load up my Wrangler, stop by Chipotle to grab food to go, and go to a drive-in concert. I miss live music SO much. Earlier in the pandemic I went to listen/watch a drive-in show and it was so refreshing even socially distanced! After the drive-in concert, we’d stick around for whatever double feature movies they planned on showing (because I miss movie theaters too). I’d probably spend the rest of the weekend at home just catching up and listening to music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my partner in music and life, Jake Greenburg! He has so much experience on both the playing and recording side of the music business that I feel very grateful to have his brain at my fingertips. He supports my ideas but isn’t afraid to give suggestions when he thinks something will work better. At this point we trust what each other wants and it has led to some really exciting things that I can’t wait to share with you all.
