We had the good fortune of connecting with Ileana Solis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ileana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking is an integral part of growth and progress, both in life and in one’s career. When considering risks, it’s important to balance potential rewards against possible downsides. The willingness to take risks can lead to significant opportunities, whether in personal development, professional advancement, or innovation. However, risks should be calculated rather than reckless, meaning they are taken with an understanding of the potential outcomes and with strategies in place to mitigate potential losses.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What Sets Me Apart
What makes my makeup artistry unique is my dedication to understanding each client’s individual style, personality, and skin type. I not apply makeup; I craft looks that highlight a person’s natural beauty while allowing their personality to shine through. Whether it’s a natural, everyday look or a bold, dramatic transformation, I have the skill to bring my client’s vision to life.
My attention to detail, commitment to using high-quality products, and continuous learning about the latest trends and techniques set me apart from others in the industry. Perhaps I also specialize in certain areas, like bridal makeup, quinceañera makeup and social makeup which further distinguishes my brand.
The Journey
Getting to where Im today in my business likely involved a mix of passion, hard work, and resilience. I have started with a love for makeup, practicing on friends and family, and then decided to turn that passion into a profession. Along the way, I faced challenges, like building a client base, competing in a crowded market, and staying current with trends and techniques.
Overcoming Challenges
The journey wasn’t easy. I had to work through slow periods, build a portfolio from scratch, and prove my skills in a competitive industry. To overcome these challenges, I focused on continuously improving my craft, networking with other professionals, and providing exceptional service to every client, which helped me to build a strong reputation.
Lessons Learned
A key lesson that I have learned is the importance of perseverance and adaptability. The beauty industry is always evolving, and staying relevant requires a commitment to learning and growth. I discovered the power of word-of-mouth and personal referrals, which are often more impactful than any other form of marketing in this business.
What I Want the World to Know
My brand is more than just makeup application; it’s about empowering people and helping them feel confident and beautiful. I take pride in being part of my clients’ important moments, whether it’s a wedding, a photoshoot, or simply a special night out.
My story is one of passion turned into a successful business, and I want the world to know that with hard work, creativity, and a genuine love for what I do, it’s possible to build a thriving career in makeup artistry.
