We had the good fortune of connecting with Helen Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helen, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue a creative career because I enjoy being artistic and free flowing. Photography has so many different genres to pick from, and the forms of expression are endless. I’ve always been artistic growing up and being able to find photography made me feel like I finally belonged in the creative world. Especially in a world where everything can be so serious, I think photography is fun and seeing my clients be more confident after our time together makes me feel successful at my job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Dallas based photographer who loves capturing people’s memories. I specialize in boudoir, maternity, and couples/family. I am most proud of making my clients feel confident while I shoot them and providing an overall fun experience for both of us. I always get to know my clients during their shoots through our conversations, and always want to incorporate little details to make their shoots feel personalized. I’ve learned that every client is different. Everyone has their own insecurities, but what’s important is show casing what they love about themselves even if they don’t see it all the time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting the area, I would take them to eat at my favorite restaurants. I love Asian food, so I would take them for either sushi (Yama Izakaya & Sushi), Korean BBQ (Gen Korean BBQ), or ramen (Wabi House). Afterwards, we could go do an activity at either Cidercade or axe throwing at Class Axe Throwing Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out the photography community in Dallas. I’ve made friends with other photographers in the community such as Daniel Perez, Krystell Caycedo, and Tee. All of these creatives have been so helpful in my photography journey by guiding me with their own experiences and helping me with any questions I may have.
