We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernanda Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fernanda, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the little slips of times we can never get back, by the smiles and the beauty that can be found in every single person. The love that two people can share and the little feet from the bundle of joys. I am inspired by the gold glow from the sun and the hues of nature around me. Inspired by the amazing people around me that work in the same industry. Inspired the talent, the motivation and the hustle by anyone else in the photography world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer and I strive to capture candid moments and to make my clients as comfortable as they can in from of the camera and I always say that as a shy person I can make another shy person blossom because I can connect with my client more. The thing that I am most proud of AND excited about is that I finally took the leap and will be a FULL TIME PHOTOGRAPHER this August!! I never thought I would be at this point in my life to get to do what I love!!!! I have a mantra in life- “Fake it till you make it”. Every artist in the industry is going to suffer from some form of impostor syndrome and there is not a way to get past it but to keep pivoting through until you finally see your worth. It took me 4 years to get over it and it was not easy! The way I overcame it was by pushing myself to be as present as I could even when I did not have any content, even when I told myself that I was not good enough- I kept going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Fort Worth! I would take them to see the Stockyards because how can you not go there while visiting Fort worth!! and then go on a hike to Tandy Hills to see the sunset! We would eat at Tacos San Andres (Best Tacos in my opinion) and go to Chamoys for some mangonadas and cochinadas! I would also take them to Magnolia st and go eat some Ice cream at Melts! and then go to Grow plant shop and buy some cute plants!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out Cynthia with @cinphotos she hosted the first workshop I ever went to and my business went skyrocketing from there from the knowledge and relationships that I gained that day she is also always there for her fellow photographers and I cannot be more than thankful to her. I would love to Shout out Benita with @benitapphotography for showing me nothing but love and support along the way as well as letting me follow her at shoot outs haha. I would love to shout out Arlin with @arlinperezphoto for always being so supportive and kind along the way. I would Love to shout out Janette with @Jgamezphotography for always letting me pick at her brain and always responding from day one! Love to all of my Latina entrepreneurs out there working hard!!!
