We had the good fortune of connecting with Essence Hampton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Essence, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had the ambition to do more for myself. Working for corporate over the past 6 years, jumping from job to job every year or so, made me realize that the “working for someone else” life wasn’t for me. I’m not against working a 9-5 at all, because it’s what has changed my mindset, and my overall goals for my future. I just knew I was made to live my life on my own terms, without punching the clock whenever I needed a break or vacation. Over the past few years, I’ve dabbled into several different industries, mostly product-based businesses such as building a clothing brand, etc. None of which turned out to be successful. It was then, I decided to see what I could do to help others, which is what I’m passionate about. That’s when virtual assisting came to play. I’ve grown successfully in building my own brand as a VA, and plan to soon transition from a virtual assistant to an online business manager!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So about my business… I currently help women entrepreneurs with general tasks for their businesses such as email management, calendar management, data entry/reporting, etc. Soon, in the next month or so, I will transition to becoming an online business manager. To explain more, I will be helping women entrepreneurs manage their businesses and take over things such as operations, recruiting, and projects!

I’m going to give this shoutout to my hair stylist, Tiaunna! She has the drive and ambition just like me and that’s why we vibe so well together!!
