We had the good fortune of connecting with Empress Hyder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Empress, how do you think about risk?
I truly believe you miss most and I mean most of the opportunities you do not take. I love a good challenge. Honestly it has made me the multi-passionate entrepreneur I am today. The great thing about a risk is you’ll either be successful or fail and if you fail, you simply try again.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
MILF Kulture is my newest business venture, based on my love for self as a mom and the little fashion I dibble and dabble in. MILF unlike the iconic acronym actually stands for MAN I LOVE FASHION, in this sense all things T-shirt, Accessories and more. Most people know me from my original shirt and design company iHartdesignz, well iHart had a baby. 2020 was the year I didn’t know I needed, to go back to the drawing board. I would say I got this far today business wise by; being honest with myself, finding something that I am passionate about and being able to take constructive criticism. Anything business, takes hard work-like you literally have to do the work, so by no means was it easy, no matter how many times I’ve done so. As far as overcoming challenges, I tackle them head on as an opportunity to learn from them and grow. Honestly, I am my biggest critique so I move in the direction of what feels uncomfortable welcoming challenges. One lesson I’ve learned along the way, is simply, I AM NOT FOR EVERYBODY, this mindset has allowed me to continue to be authentic and build the following I do have on social media. As owner and founder of MILF, I would like everyone to know, this is something I’ve strayed away from and everything I never wanted to do. However, this is a call of obedience, with no uncertainty of what’s to come. I just want to encourage people to do what they love and most importantly love what they do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ohhhh this is such a loaded question; and I’ve been off the scene a little but bare with me… Soooo we would most likely book a king spa suite at the Kimpton Pittman hotel-this is my all time new gem in the heart of deep ellum. A week my goodness that’s pretty long, but lets give it a shot. Sunday: Brunch at Henry’s Majestic, Dinner at Pangea, Townhouse Monday: Brunch at Breadwinners and Texas Horse Park Tuesday: Highland Park Village and Dinner at Moxie’s Wednesday: Brunch at Street’s Fine Chicken and The Bonnie and Clyde Tour Thursday: Brunch at Hide , McKinney Avenue Trolley and For a little ratchet fun, we might go down to the Pink Lounge Friday: TNT and The Backyard, and barhop downtown for sure Saturday: Brunch at Heros, African American Museum, and probably any hookah joint in Addison…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d definitely like to thank my tribe and there’s so many of them to name but without them this year would’ve taken me under!
